I'm pretty sure every massdrop keyset I've gotten has come with a good metal wire one. At least thats the only way I can explain why I own at least three of them.

A paper clip. Or a binder clip. If you don't have a puller. Even the caps I got recently came with one.

I saw the gmk sets usually come with one, but I think the descriptions mentioned that fact as well.

Because this drop doesn't mention it Infigured there wouldnt be one included.

pretty much all the cap sets ever come with one, but if you need to get one grab a wire one, the plastic ring ones are pretty bad.

I need some help, thread! I found my ideal keyboard, and it's the Coolermaster Masterkeys M with white LEDs and MX Brown switches, only downside is that it appears to be sold out everywhere. Is there anyone else that ticks those boxes? I would ideally like to pick up a pair of them, one for home one for office.

https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-MasterKeys-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B01ITE93K6

Any other keyboards that have a compact layout, but keep the numpad? It's super useful for 3D modeling, but I don't like having full size keyboards.

your thing has been rolled into coolermaster's quickfire brand, now known as the tk (available as white leds & browns):
http://www.coolermaster.com/peripheral/keyboards/quickfiretk/

couple key differences:
- the lower row is now in the fucky ~gamer~ 1.5/1.0/1.25/6.5/1.25/1.0/1.0/1.5 layout, which will make replacing the god awful keycaps a bit more challenging
- both this and the masterkeys version have a non-standard 1u "0" & "00" on the numpad instead of a single 2u "0" per the standard ansi layout, to accommodate the numpad becoming an arrow cluster

standard ansi layout:

quickfire tk:

the thing i find incredibly dumb about your thing's layout is that they decided to reinvent a basic "this has already been a functionality for literally decades" thing the numpad does; hit any numpad's numlock, and it becomes both an arrow & nav cluster already:

the quickfire does this in it's own non-standard way via an fn layer, which is fine if you've never used a numpad with numlock off, but would be extremely weird if you're already using an unlocked numpad.

other alternatives:
- leopold fc980m (1800 layout, no backlighting)
- zz96/rs96 builds could be needs suiting, but these aren't a walk in the park to source

keeping in mind that this is going to be a very popular set:

the final price for a standard layout should be ~$120:
- alphas @ $40
- mods @ $48
- numpad @ $31

i mean yeah, abs, but it's some high quality doubleshot abs with a bunch of redundant keys. you're paying the signature plastics premium for sure, but it's still within the realm of reason for a very nice (imho) set

reminder that sa ashen is live and has ~5 days left on it's timer. a legit good set i own and vouch for, pretty much the cheapest way you can get into sa caps:
https://en.zfrontier.com/collections/keysets/products/maxkey-ashen

you'll note that ashen is pretty drat close to oblivion's white alphas/numpad & monochrome mods for almost half the price; if money wasn't an issue i'd probably get the oblivion one if i wanted to redo the same colorway (slightly more needs suiting legends for me) but ashen will be at your door in 6 weeks.

Seconding this, Ashen was my first of SA and sold me on the key profile. It did not ratchet down my want for Modern Selectric with blue mods.

ABS gets a really bad rep because the gaming brand OEMs do make some really lovely thin and brittle ABS keycaps.

There's lots of high quality ABS keycaps out there. Specifically the ones Signature Plastics and GMK make. Those 2 make up the higher-end of the keycap market and they're mostly ABS and they're thick as gently caress. People also like their SA keycaps a little shiny so there's that.

Also keep in mind that it's all how the material is used, construction helmets also use ABS.

Maxkey Ashen Round 2 is especially nice because they fixed their molds to have proper kerning now (no more SHIF T and BACK SPACE plus lots of other fixes). I already have it ordered since I missed out on Round 1. (got stuck with Portland instead :()

I'll probably still get the white alphas from Oblivion though.

Just wait until you have friends begging you to not buy another keycap set or keyboard. Tears rolling down their face with each key press as you enter your credit card information and click purchase. You'll start to scratch hatch marks into your old CODE keycaps to count the days until the signature plastics run completes. 3 months after your purchase you'll buy another keyboard. You'll tell yourself the typical lies "This is my end game", "I'm a millennial. Why save for the American dream when I can have a rewarding hobby instead?", and "I won't NEED to buy another keyboard after this". But you will. You'll always buy one. Your friends won't try to stop you. They're long gone. They lost you when you dropped 4 grand on an Signature Plastics SA Avocado Toast themed keycap set so that the group buy wouldn't fail. It won't even arrive until 2023. But it doesn't matter. You've become a true keeb weeb.

1. The items I’ve ordered this year have all also been off-the-shelf (other than maybe the cat face keycaps?)
2. This one isn’t off-the-shelf, as it’s specially made w/o the coating.

I don’t deny that Massdrop has its uses, especially outside the US, but they’re incredibly mismanaged and in my personal experience getting worse rather than better. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if the SA Carbon set estimated for Mar 22 actually arrives before Q3 next year.

It's an ortholinear keyboard, which means every key is equidistant to the home row. Supposedly it makes for better ergonomics. They're aren't very many on the market.

But, mostly, we just can't stop collecting keyboards. We have a problem.

It's a kit, in that you need to solder the switches through the plate onto the PCB, then put it in the case. It's also got that grid layout which is unusual. There's probably anodized aluminum cases in orange for other more normal keyboards if that's the main thing you like about it, but otherwise those kits are pretty easy to put together if you have basic soldering skills.
