Typing this from my new Pok3r, pretty happy with it. Super quiet, with the o-rings, and the black switches feel great. Now I just need my drat wrist rest to show up. The angle of my wrists is awkward as hell without one. Not sure how I'm going to reconcile that in the ~6 weeks before it's supposed to get here. Might just have to use a book or something.

I considered that option, but if I'm going to spend that much money on a wrist rest, it needs to be made only of the finest corgi.

That's weak about the TK, looks like standard keycaps should fit on the OG, though, so that's nice. I'll probably end up rebinding "00" to "0" - splitting the key would have been just as well.

you'll still have the 1u 0/00 issue, those caps aren't standard at all. if you want to run the stock caps that's not an issue, but if the intent is to barbie up a board, you might want to consider another alternative.

if you want a compact option, consider running a tkl+numpad setup; this will leave you with the option of running with just a compact tkl and busting out the numpad when needed. depending on what you go for, you should end up with a standard ansi layout on mx stems, which is the easiest thing to get caps for. you also have the option of unlocking num on the numpad to use it as an arrow/home cluster.

i'd recommend looking into a code in browns or clears (which is a stiffer, snappier version of browns) and pick up whatever mx numpad you want. leopold does some nice stuff in that area.

Speaking of Leopold numpads, are there any good equivalents to the FC210TP? I've been trying to find a black version of it in clears or browns but it seems like it's perpetually out of stock. I basically just want the same layout in black with tactile switches but that's been really hard to find.

Because the goof is all mine.
I've never seen a commercially available external numpad with clears so good luck on that. I haven't looked in a while but most of the mech numpads I've seen had blacks. I guess if you're willing to resolder go for it. It's not hard, just tedious.

I was just going to put the arrow keys there on a fresh set of caps and remap "00" to just another "0" in software. It may be a hair inconvenient, but beauty is pain.

I have also found this website: https://meckeyalpha.com/products/ma98?variant=41516891598

And I can put together the exact keyboard I want with backlighting and Cherry Browns (no keycaps) for $118. Has anyone heard of this site before? I might rather just order a pair of boards from there.

Bought a Corsair K70 Lux RGB some time ago to replace my 5 year old Das keyboard. It's a fine piece of equipment. My only complaint would be that in windows the control panel (where you can presumably program the keyboard to light up) is lovely in terms of UI and capabilities and in linux the program who was able to do that is abandoned and it copied the UI from the windows version (therefore still complete and total poo poo).
Bit it works and when in windows and playing diablo is does light up in quite spectacular ways. Unfortunately I'm not in windows nor playing diablo often enough. But one of these days i'll make a light-controlling program that will allow me to choose how the thing behaves in linux too in hopefully more programmer-oriented way.

clears are fairly rare on full boards but basically non-existent on numpads, unless you go the custom kit route
https://unikeyboard.io/product/felix/ (ask them about sourcing clears)
http://winkeyless.kr/product/b-pad-x2-pcb/ (fairly expensive if you want it completely assembled)
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Satan-pad-21-digital-mechanical-keyboard-rgb-led-with-lamp-amjpad/32761106161.html (get the first kit and source/solder the switches yourself)

at the end of the day, it's your board, so don't let my nitpicking discourage you from trying something you think would be needs suiting. never hear of that shop, but if they're local-ish i'd check them out for sure.

If I remember right, if you spill a margarita all over your Unicomp and can't clean it out yourself, for like $40 you can ship it to them and they'll clean/fix it and ship it back. Cheaper than buying a new keyboard and I mean if you're posting on this thread then you have 8 other keyboards to pick from.

If you're an American then one of the best things about Unicomp is that their entire operation is located in Nowhere, Kentucky and staffed entirely by a handful of English speaking humans. If you have a problem they get poo poo done real fast.
