Spider-Man (2002) has Peter Parker quip "That's a cute outfit. Did your husband give it to you?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ai_GKRC22L4&t=145s It also has, and correct me if I'm wrong here, The Green Goblin strongly implying that he intends to sexually assault Mary Jane after he kills Spider-Man. Two moments where I kinda got knocked out of the movie for a second.

Questioning a guy’s sexuality is always going to be a thing. Especially a burly guy in tights wearing a speedo that you’re actively fighting in a cage match. I don’t think that reflects poorly on Spider-Man.
Actually this isn’t something that everybody takes for granted as “always going to be a thing”, it’s not something anybody should just accept as inevitable, and it reflects poorly on the writers of the film, because Spider-Man is a fictional character
Yeah, but remember questioning sexuality goes both ways. At some enlightened future date it’ll be Spider-man angering a gay Macho Man by questioning whether his wife designed his costume and all the gay guys will laugh while the straight guys feel uncomfortable. It’s super awkward watching any movie or TV show where they add a gay subplot to the villain just to show how awful he really is. Big Love is the one that’s sticking in my brain now. Skyfall’s another one, but that might slide since it’s a nice counter balance to Bond’s aggressive heterosexuality.

DS9 and ENT mirror universe everyone is a BDSM lesbian now thing is a bit hosed up too. They made the characters more titillating and more chaotic, but mostly just sexed up the women. The main reason it's problematic is that these are the "evil" versions of the characters. Become more evil? Better make them gay/bi

Meanwhile the new Spider-Man has a reverse gay panic moment where Aunt May catches Peter taking off his costume in front of his friend and instead of thinking he's hiding his identity she thinks they're loving.

Before moviechat ends, Shallow Hal was a weird loving movie. It's like it wanted to have a body-positive message about why it's wrong to make fun of people because of some physical abnormality, and the children's hospital twist was loving heartbreaking, then they also stuff it full of "Lol she's fat" jokes like her breaking furniture. I think it was trying to be positive about it, but seemed to want to have it's cake and eat it too.

Rough Lobster posted:Sam Raimi's Spider-Man isn't a TV show. All righty then. The original late 60's haven't aged worth a poo poo. Some of them are charming and have that unintentional comedy thing going on, but the constantly recycled animations over new backdrops and overall production values make it look like Robert Smigel TV Funhouse (yes, I know Smigel was parodying stuff like that). Biggest thing with those cartoons though was the disparity in tone between the ones Ralph Bakshi did compared with what I considered the "normal" ones that typically took place in NYC Even as a kid I noticed it and loving hated the Bakshi ones because I could never figure out what was going on. Actually, I'm full of poo poo. I love those cartoons (but not the Bakshi ones).

I'd forgotten about the children's hospital scene. You knew that was going to go somewhere but man it was rough when it finally happened. Also in a thread about things aging badly it's worth noting Tony Robbins does not age.

She's obviously demented and you have people treating her like an authority on criminal investigations she has zero special insight on. She's a circus freak cast as the ringmaster. Nowadays nothing makes sense and her insanity just fades into the background.

Thanks whoever linked the Dear Sister skit and the original OC S2 finale. I was reading the description, turns out that skit aged poorly almost immediately:quote:On April 16, 2007, two days following the initial air date of the sketch, the Virginia Tech shooting occurred and became the deadliest school shooting in modern U.S. history.[56][57] Noam Cohen of the New York Times criticized fans of the short for insensitivity when they continued to make YouTube videos based on it.[55]

The Adam Sandler movie I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry was on TV and that movie probably didn't even age well in the first week it came out. For a movie that came out in the late 00's it's like a bad sitcom from the early 90's. I know Adam Sandler isn't a quality movie source, but even for him it stands out as bad.
