Any good wireless headset recommendations? I was gonna slap a modmic to my sennheiser cans for voice comms but I like the idea of having something without cables (with good sound quality, not just some el cheapo ones). From a cursory amazon search I'm eyeballing the Corsair VOID and the Logitech G933 since I've always liked their stuff. The Logitech looks busy as gently caress, but I couldn't find a... 'non gamer' version, unfortunately. Opinions and recommendations welcome.

I have no interest in RPG in my match-3, but I can tell you that GoW has pretty much no RPG in it whatsoever. You can read along with the little stories as they unfold, and of course you get to power up your chosen troops if you accrue enough cards and souls. XP levels up your primary character and you can chose what colour gems to improve mana-collection from. Hmm, maybe that qualifies as an RPG after all? But having never played an RPG match-3, maybe that's as good as it gets? Anyway, I've got 170 hours in GoW and haven't once felt the need to spend any money on it.

You're always gonna get better quality off a separate mic but headsets should be good enough for MP poo poo.

the only time i care is if your mic is close enough to your face that i can hear your breathing or you have a setup that produces an echo when anyone says anything. other than that i dont give a poo poo if you are talking through a tin can

Edmond Dantes posted:Opinions and recommendations welcome. I have a 633, identical to the 933 but wired. It's not bad, microphone quality could be better (it's not as good as a v-moda boompro but that one had some noticeable background hiss with my PC, the 633 doesn't probably cause I use it with USB) but audio is good and the silly surround options can be fun with action games. I'll admit I always used off-brand headsets so the 633 was my first "real" set, couldn't tell you how it sounds compared to other stuff. I DID use an old pair of Beats Solo HD for a couple years and those sounded a bit "punchier" than the 633s but everyone always says Beats are garbage so what do I know. Biggest problem for me was that the 633s felt REALLY uncomfortable the first couple months just because you NEED to wear the headband pretty centered on your skull or even closer to your brow. I was used to wearing stuff closer to my crown so I'd often feel like the headset was slipping off. I got used to it and things seem fine. I actually heard the biggest weakness of the 633s is a crappy mini-usb port that can get busted up so the wireless 933s should be good. They certainly had really high reviews back when I decided on buying a pair, only went for the wired version to save some money.

Buyer beware! There are a lot of reports over the years of it randomly disconnecting, battery life and the right channel dropping right out. I fixed mine by rolling back drivers to an older version (8.91.48), ghetto resoldering new wires over the headband. The battery - I personally haven't had a problem in the 3 or more years I've owned it (I get a full work day out of them). Audio quality is good, they are comfy, I can mow the lawn wearing them if I choose to as the range is quite impressive. Only 3 buttons but that's enough for 'mic up' 'next track' 'previous track' etc. Also a scroll wheel for volume control and a dedicated mic mute if you are stuck always on.

You should consider checking out Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes. It's probably the best puzzle/RPG/strategy hybrid I've ever played, although it is a little lighter on the RPG elements than Puzzle Quest. The strategy side makes up for it though, as you're matching units to start them charging for attacks or to build walls as your opponent does the same. You can customize your army with units that have different attributes and abilities as well as pick a piece of equipment for your hero that can have a pretty big impact on how you play. For me it was the perfect balance between casual matching and actual strategy, and there's enough content to last a while. The music is great too.

EtG is a Good And Fun Game... as long as you cheat like a motherfucker. If you're finding yourself spending too much time with the basic weapons or just not having fun in general, use Cheat Engine to spawn the occasional Rainbow Chest and see if that mixes things up for you. It sure did for me!

I just finished playing through the original Dark Forces. It hasn't aged particularly well but it's very easy to control - sure you have to use separate keys to look up and down but for the most part you can just jump in and play with a keyboard and mouse. Dark Forces 2 however is a huge pain in the rear end - you can move forward and back easily enough but left and right just turn you on your heel. Up and down and left and right on the mouse axis seem to work opposite to each other as well, so if one of them doesn't feel intuitive, inverting the controls makes the other feel unintuitive and I had to go into a file and edit it to fix it. Hardware acceleration lets you up your resolution but then the screen turns black, and turning it off gives you an image but you're stuck at a lower resolution. I know it's an old game, but it's weird that the even older game that preceded it is able to be played just fine by simply loading it up.

I think people have just been taught to think that way about that kind of thing though, but it's super cool how it's used in Prey. Put another way, you were playing a character who was playing a video game. Some people seem to interpret this as your choices having no meaning, but then that's only true because no choices that you make in any video game ever have *real* meaning QuarkJets fucked around with this message at 12:35 on Sep 8, 2017 |
