Recon scout is far and above a game-changer, and not being able to get one reliably is a huge hindrance so far as reliably hoovering up the materials needed for everything else. Sure you can farm with other dudes, but the scouts just make it not only easier - but they also help you figure out the common chest hidey -holes you might never discover otherwise, short of disassembling every building and land plot you encounter.

Pathfinder Jess is pretty close, and you reliably get that via quests.

VIDEO GAME MODIFICATION IS TOTALLY THE SAME THING AS A FEMALE'S BODY AND CLONING SAID MODIFICATION IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS RAPE, GUYS!!!!!!!
A robust clans feature that facilitates sharing blueprints would probably help a lot. If you had access to clanmate prints for weapons and traps, things would be better, IMO.

It doesn't solve hero and survivor issues, but I figure it would be a significant aide.

My friend will not admit how much he has spent on this game (and im estimating at least 1500-2000) . He's upset that he has not got a orange Pathfinder Jess yet. He is basically a living embodiment of the Sunk Cost Fallacy. His in-game boyfriend (the guy who has already spent 10k on Star Citizen) is still trying to get an orange Urban Assault, despite spending sometimes 5 straight hours opening llamas.

I'm never going to give this game a penny the way it works now.

Uhh, whales usually have a gambling addiction. You could make the argument that NRG boxes prey upon this (but so do casinos).
At least with video games, you don't have to keep paying to keep playing.

Because it's pretty fun if all you are looking for is an open world Orcs Must Die?

I mean, it's fairly easy to earn 200+ coins per day just from playing, especially at the moment with the event on. I have had several epics from each of the event chests so it's not like it's hard to get decent gear either, as long as you are patient.

For people who are not patient, you can, of course, buy the upgrade lamas in much larger quantity (rather than the troll lamas that you have to wait for).

I'm not spending any additional money beyond a Standard buy-in. Unlike (seemingly) most people who dropped out of the game after the honeymoon period, I knew from the start this was a mobile Freemium game on the PC platform. So I've had no surprises and have been slowly expanding my roster. I had immensely good luck with the first Super Ranged Llama and got a solid assault rifle with better perks than the Nocturno everyone else seems to be running.

Still would not recommend the game to literally anyone, even though there must exist a small number of people who would also enjoy the game without spending money on llamas or any other cash shop bullshit they add.

I've spent a but more on it, but I still enjoy the poo poo out of this game while nearly entering Twine Peaks. So far, mist complaints aren't relevant once you get halfway into Canny. Except the P2W element, of course. Even then though, if you're bad, not any amount of spending money is going to save you in most missions. People carrying your rich rear end however..

People can definitely spend past any challenge. The stat caps for each region are stupidly high. I've had a few mutant storm missions where Twine Peaks players are slumming it in Canny Valley at the stats cap and I can blow everything away with just their squad offense boosts. I can only imagine that if they weren't bad (because why else are they back in Canny?) they would be bored out of their minds. (They probably are bored out of their minds and are slumming it for the Drops of Rain, though. Because they mostly show up on double Drop of Rain missions.)

Basically, final gearing against end-game content is not going to be Ultra-violence difficulty shooting in a game targeted at whales.

I don't know that there's really enough of us. I can basically only commit to 4 hours of play on Friday, but if other people can make it I might block out the time. I've got the bad Kneecapper soldier. Shocktrooper maybe? I pulled an epic Headhunter with the hero llama, but I'm not going to have the training manuals to 3* or 4* her by Friday. I've also got solid Wall Darts and a few different weapons at level 30 to spread out my ammo use.

That's a fair assessment. I go back to Plankerton sometimes if there's 1) double drop and 2) the storm reward scaled to 12 drops from 6. Seeing as Twine Peak storms only give 15 compared with 12 from Canny, you'd be pretty stupid not to go back to Canny for double Rain Drops to be honest.

As for difficulty vs whales, yeah you're right. My missile launcher does ~70% damage to a non-elemental charger in Plankerton, I could probably get that to 80-85% with slightly better squad members. If you stay in your own level it obviously won't be this high, but yeah you can probably outspend the difficulty curve. Repair The Shelter/4-storms with a bad base spawn are really, really loving hard in Twine Peaks though. But then again, even the cheaper whales (10k spent) probably have 4 times my stats in everything. Must be boring to basically one-shot nearly everything though.

So far as I've been able to tell, nobody with the data is looking for those answers. According to the mobile games industry, everyone in this thread (with the exception of anyone who was gifted the game for free or doesn't own it, I suppose) qualifies as a whale, having spent over $10/month on the game. Now, pretty obviously, that's quite a different figure than what people outside the industry would term as a whale. As such, there really isn't anywhere to look for the demographic information you're after.

ADDING: Assuming that the cutoff point chosen of $10/month isn't misleading, then the F2P model would basically just be legitimized piracy, right? Well, except for those who follow the curve of spending up higher to irresponsible levels. Or that you can immediately tell a F2P game from a "real" game by the general rate of advancement and player agency in the same. I mean, Borderlands 2 doesn't restrict you to a single legendary weapon drop every month. Or require you to substitute that weapon drop for a class drop instead. Or make you buy the DLC in blind bags. "Oops, I got my third Hammerlock. Maybe the time I drop a $10 I'll get Krieg."

Hero Llama and after that troll llama. They are using their big guns. They probably think theres a huge overlap between their playerbase and Destiny. And probably is correct.

Many people will follow their friends to Destiny, if anything because you like to play with your friends.

My plan for fortnite is to continue logging to collect the science points and wait for a good event. I may even play Fortnite if the Destiny servers are down, or I am top cap light level and theres nothing to do or play in Destiny, but I don't see that point near just now.

This is not really bad for Fortnite. They have a lot of player feedback, they can use that feedback to make the game more like players want it to be or.... they can sit with a thumb in their rear end and collect whales money.. that would work too, I guess. Is out to them what type of future they want for the game. I have already given them Feedback and have not uninstalled or plan to uninstall.

I bet I've spent just short of $200 on the game (I got the $90? edition + v bucks for llamas), and while that's not something I'm terribly proud of, I've put in a lot of hours in the game, so my $/hour cost isn't that bad. Spending $1,000+ on this game - or any game - is a whole other level.

I can barely believe it myself. And I certainly don't understand it. My friend now estimates that the Star Citizen guy is probably up to "at least 6k" now. If I had millions of dollars I would not spend $6k on llamas, even real ones. For that kind of coin you could go on a really awesome five star vacation somewhere cool. Or remodel part of your house. Or hell, invest in a mutual fund or something.

I'm still embarassed that I have spent a couple hundred bucks playing botes, a video game I have been playing regularly for more than 2 years.

I work in monetization in mobile games. Not sure where you're getting 10/mo = "whale status" but that's absurd. Nobody in this thread would remotely come close to be considered a whale. Mobile game whales can spend on the orders of 4-5 digits a month, no sweat, although typically they're sorted based on LTV rather than monthly spend. At my previous studio, we had a user who spent nearly $15k in three months on a game that was still in soft-launch, knowing that there was going to be a wipe at the end of that period when we hit world-wide.

PC gaming monetization doesn't even come remotely close to the aggressiveness that is the standard in mobile games.

The news article I linked. "The rest comes from just 6 percent of the players – dubbed "whales" after the popular Las Vegas term – who spend $10 or more per month on mobile games."

Maybe I should have been more explicit about calling bullshit on that figure. Because it does come from a soft-balled news fluff piece that's trying to normalize the experience of being a whale.

DOUBLEPOST: Hahaha. So they changed how %damage mods on ranged weapons work back in patch 1.5, but they didn't patch note it. Specifically, right now the %damage mod on a ranged weapon is additive with the 10% damage mod for being a soldier, and the 24% assault rifle mod for non-kneecapper soldiers. Is this intended? The community can't tell, because it wasn't announced. (I'm actually totally unsurprised about the change, but not putting in the patch notes seems especially stupid.)

Yeah it's intended. One of their devs (I poo poo you not) realized it worked really loving stupidly on stream, on the promo stream for the 1.5 patch no less. "Coincidentally" it was fixed a bit later. Funnily enough, melee %dmg is still useless, just like traps (or any squad bonus for that matter iirc). Apart from trap durability squad bonus, I think.

E: As far as you can call it intended without getting a confirmation from Epic.
