I see Evil Morty more like Palpatine than anything else - someone who was evil all along and hid it behind a façade.

See? Science proves the JewsMuslims are inferior and must be purged! I'm not a racist, honest!
Mostly, I'm surprised the Citadel is back at all. The season opener seemed like one of those "okay, we're destroying these plot devices so we never have to use them again" kinds of things, which Roiland/Harmon/whoever seem fond of. Like, they're so wary of bringing back Meeseeks or making Wubbalubbadubdub a sincere catchphrase, and only did interdimensional cable II begrudgingly, and with an in-episode joke about how they didn't want to be bringing it back. And that in the S2 finale's stinger they poked fun at people theorizing or worrying about the galactic government or whatever. The S3 opener seemed to be a kind of statement like, "okay, the gov't got blown up and the council of ricks were all murdered. They're done, we're not rehashing them, let's do other poo poo." So it's surprising to have it be a centerpiece again, and seeming like it'll come back even more.

I am glad Evil Morty is back, though. That was a good plot point to bring back, and I'm glad they waited so long to do it too. Would've been the easiest thing in the world to bring him back in like, the S2 premiere.

I'm looking forward to the next episode. Seems they've got a replacement for interdimensional cable in the form of Morty's removed memories. Think the poo poo you've seen morty go through is terrible? Well check out the things so terrible rick had to remove them from morty's head so he wouldn't go insane with ptsd.

It's not a plot hole. Galactic federation has teleporter technology. The prototype teleporter gun rick made was a blue portal just like the airport. Interdimensional portals are green, rick just has to hack the airport portal from blue to green. Continuity restored.

Actually, that's *checks pilot* a very good point. These guys have kept their continuity surprisingly together where it's mattered, so I'm inclined to go with my and yours idea. Rick making a temporary override that self-destructs also kills more bureaucrats.

They must miss her. :(

I get the impression that not many of the Mortys on the Citadel get to go back to their home dimensions/planets much, if at all.

You'd think one of the Ricks would've grabbed a few Jessicas to put on the Citadel for him. The Rickest Rick would totally have done that.

Preview spoilers: So they're really gonna do another Interdimensional Cable-esque episode again? The season 2 one was definitely weaker than the first one (it had its moments) and I thought they were kicking the whole idea to the curb.

This must be the episode that has Justin Roiland so tanked he can barely do his lines though

Judging by the premise of the episode I feel like this will work much better - If it is still improv then its improv focused on wacky Rick and Morty shenanigans rather than literally anything

This is a Dan Harmon joke. He talks about incest porn quite a bit on his podcast. It may not necessarily relate to Summer.

The funny thing about Evil Morty is that he's no more evil than any Rick (or some Morty's) and he's arguably less evil than our Rick, who destroyed an entire universe for a split-second advantage in a footrace. He's just more active about it.

Who knows what his motives even are. He might make that piece of poo poo Citadel a better place than it used to be. Or he'll just kill everyone.

This is kind of a dire view from my end but I think a lot of the Ricks and Mortys (Morties?) on the Citadel don't have a home to go back to. Every Morty without a Rick can't go back home, and every Rick without their Morty couldn't face going back home.

A Rick could totally go back home. Just pick up a spare Morty, or hell wrangle up the technology to make a clone one. Bam, problem solved. Or kill another Rick and take his Morty!

This isn't necessarily true, they say at the end of the episode with all the enslaved Mortys that they'll go back to their home dimensions and be normal kids. Not really hard for someone with a portal gun to just send them all home.

And Ricks only need a Morty if they intend to spend any considerable time outside of the Citadel.

Doing so without a Morty around makes finding and killing that Rick a lot easier.
