I finished playing Hellblade and the creidts rolled and music started playing and I was confused because it sounded like Ronan, so I looked the song up and it was Illusion by VNV Nation. I was kind of surprised to actually hear some VNV in a major video game release.
I try picking up and playing that Devil May Cry reboot every so often ... then Combichrist comes on and I remember why I keep laughing too much to play the darn game. The game is fine, but the music, or the two coupled-together is just so-over-the-top-absurd-try-hard.

Didn't Covenant and mind.in.a.box also pop up in a few racing games? Some of the clubbier stuff would work when you're doing laps or whatnot.

Also, this is probably old news, but new MIAB album in October!

Yeah both on Project Gotham Racing 3 & 4. The latter also had Rotersand, Seabound, Pride & Fall, Edge of Dawn, Goldfrapp.

Maybe everyone else already knew this, but the little girl in Numan's My Name is Ruin video is his daughter Persia who actually sings on the track. There's a couple of videos of her performing it on-stage as well.

The song has really grown on me. I think the shorter video version is much catchier than the longer album mix that was initially posted. It still does sorta sound like Splinter 2.0 but hey that was a great album so whatever.

Saw Blanck Mass this evening and he was pretty good. Not an industrial scene band but pretty drat close to it on the more rhythmic tracks with a noisy IDM vibe. If folk aren't already familiar, a few of you might enjoy his stuff.

Saw Blanck Mass the weekend before last. It was pretty good. I mean, it's just a spotify playlist for most of the show, with the dude doing some screaming into a mic hooked up to some effects for the last track, but the music takes on a different vibe when it is played that loud.

Finally got see see Die Krupps live last night after two decades of listening to their music and they were absolutely awesome, well worth the wait!

Although not quite as awesome as Wulfband who absolutely took the roof off a couple of hours prior.

I know it may look like I'm just sitting at a computer typing, but actually I am trying as hard as I can to be at a Wulfband show right now

edit: E-Tropolis next year looking p good, Project Pitchfork and VNV Nation taking up the headliner spots. I'm more excited for Rotersand and Aesthetic Perfection (with more artists to be announced), but it was a good time last year and it looks like a good time this year. Everyone who said it was a tremendous pain to get around was totally right, but it's still a worthwhile trip and the tickets are reasonably priced for what you're getting.

I'm 90% positively going to whatever show/festival has both Project Pitchfork and Ashbury Heights on the bill again. Finally have some vacation time, can afford it, and wife has the travel itch and would love to visit any place they'd play.

Though she's probably do her own thing rather than see a genre show haha. I've dragged her to enough.

I'm in the minority but I loved Anthology 2 and Spotify pulled it.

So it is, strange.

Fortunately I have it on CD ... I'm a sucker that buys all their premium sets.

One major difference between the two ... the First Anthology tracks sound appreciably better than the original album tracks and singles. The Second Anthology versions were already recorded/mastered much better in the first place.

Really dug Dangerous Days but I wasn't super taken with the last album. Just kinda felt like what I heard was either drudging or hyper active. This definitely sounds like a broodier approach with emphasis on pumping atmosphere and a more controlled energy - if that makes any sense which it probably doesn't. But that style of synthwave is very tricky to get just right - safe to say Perturbator is still one of the best. Looking forward to blasting this album at work today.

Pretty certain I raved about it in the thread before, but folk who like synthwave should give Mlada Fronta's "Outrun" release a try. His previous releases are techno/industrial to varying degrees on that spectrum but he branched into synthwave for this album to awesome effect.

I have a bone to pick with Vol. 2 - I was in the subscription service for Vol 1, which was truly killer stuff, but that Vol 2 was a wash because 60% of the content I believe was previously released. Bad form. And to boot, the vinyl version of the compilation has a portion of "Empathy For the Devil" which is like 40something minutes and it's exclusive only to the vinyl.

The vocals on Paranoia are epic as gently caress holy poo poo WOW. And it's about [distorted vocal effect] ~The Agency~ kicking in your door in black uniforms and jackboots, because that's what happens in the MIAB-verse haha.

Well, anyways it sounds killer, and Poiss always needs at least one song that brings the roof down.

So for the Houston date of that KMFDM/ohGr tour, which I was going to attend but mainly just to see ohGr, they added Mastodon?! Full disclosure: I have no problem with and actively like their brand of southern flavored stoner/prog rock. However, that's a supremely WEIRD mishmash. I guess I should thank the ill-fated Open Air festival (two day metal festival that was slated for the same weekend) for cancelling due to Harvey, because that's the only reason Mastodon is on this bill. Still, that makes for some weird "you got your chocolate in my peanut butter" pairings. I'm still going, but drat it sucks that I have to suffer through late-era KMFDM before I can switch gears to hesher. Oh well, I'm still hoping Sascha throws us a bone and lets Ogre do "Torture" or "Full Worm Garden" with them.

Photex

That should be a fun show, and normally Mastodon are a fun band so maybe of Sasha isn't being a prick we could see a little love Mastodon/KMFDM action, I bet Brent or Bill could do the intro to WWIII

I don't know how this factors in, but I know Shear had to go private because even before Trump was a thing, he was the target of a campaign of report harassment, seemingly for espousing views that the right-wing did not appreciate. I don't know why he in particular got shut down so hard but it's been going on for YEARS. And he's never said anything "bad" but it appears that through the sheer volume of reports someone eventually gets tired and bans him.
