Can I just say that Shore Leave and Mile High are great names for promiscuous stereotypes? If nothing else Jackson and Doc have a gift for pseudonyms.

Exploration is ill-advised.
I think it's implied that they were lovers as Shore Leave and Mile High in the OSI, went undercover as Holy Diver and Sky Pilot, and when they joined up properly with SPHINX, Shore Leave resumed his old identity while Sky Pilot actually liked his new one.

You ever do the chicken dance at a wake? That really bothers people.
Yeah, he used to go by Mile High and took on the name Sky Pilot when Shore Leave became Holy Diver. For whatever reason, he didn't change back. I guess it's either he thinks it's a better name or he actually did convert :v:

Just rewatched season 6. I forgot how good it was, I think I like it better watching all the episodes in a row rather than weekly. Really hoping that Sirena comes back next season, she was fun and her relationship with Hank was really sweet. And I guess now the Monarch will go after the last big fish standing between him and Rusty, a.k.a Wide Wale? And we may have the confirmation that, yes, Wide Wale specifically took away Rusty from the Monarch just to make him miserable, in revenge for his brother's death.

Can't wait to see Wide Wale's reaction to realising that he maybe shouldn't have antagonised a supervillain with an on-record body count of heroes, especially if/when he realises the Blue Morpho the Guild is terrified of is the Monarch and his mentally unstable nerd sidekick committing semi-accidental massacres.

Wow, he looks like such a dork before hand.

I recently got a bunch of people mad on facebook by posting an article laying out exactly why Ready Player One is a bad book and will probably be a bad movie, and one said "You love the Venture Bros, how is that any different?" and I had to just shake my head and reply "RP1 is just Cline listing poo poo he likes, there's nothing more than "I got in my Deloren and slamed in the most extreme hard core rock of Rush's Moving Pictures while I blasted out of the Firefly's cargo bay with Alf in my passenger seat to do battle with Mum-Ra, Sark head jock from Revenge of the Nerds who was Jefferson on Married with children" while Venture Bros, well, does this. It's so much more than 'member dis? The referances can stand on their own. There's no gatekeeping, there's no need to know who the gently caress Bibleman or Klaus Nomi is get the joke.

But it's fine, I guess...

You just keep being you!

A lot of the time you'd wouldn't recognize the reference Venture Bros. is making, but it's still be funny as there is a joke in itself built around the reference.

For example, I have no clue as to the regulars of Andy Warhol's celebrity groupies, but the episode about the Doom Factory arching Venture was still hilarious.

Right, along with the name of what they're referencing, they also include (exaggerated versions of) the elements that made that thing joyful or funny in the first place.

Exploration is ill-advised.
On a note of discussion, was pondering the nature of nephewism in cartoons, very relevant to Ducktales, and how so few adult-adventurer-and-kid-sidekick media actually has a parent-child team, at least in the old days, with Johnny Quest being the only exception I could think of. Then I realised, aside from uncles having way more leeway in how they can behave and have lives of their own outside the wholesome expectations of mid-20th century parents, there's an entire show about how insanely irresponsible and cruel a parent forcing their child into an 'adventurer' lifestyle actually would be.

Surprised there hasn't been some parody of such with parents leaving their children in the case of an 'uncle' who then goes to drag them on extremely inadvisable adventures. Hell, Col Gentleman and the Action Man are surprisingly decent babysitters.

Yea, I got their Legion of Doom parts, but not the Factory parts. Also all their jokes about the 80s NYC Goth/New Wave scene. I had to look up who Lydia Lunch was, and one of her more famous things was an arty porn video where she blows JG Thirwell.
