While not impossible, I'd be very, very surprised if they sell out before the morning.

And they'll be in stores (including authorized resellers) the same day they'd arrive via shipping.

4K content has already started showing up in the iTunes Store. So far I have about a dozen titles converted to 4K.

We've Got To Go Back
I decided to sleep in, but I woke up at 0255 (with no alarm) and used my phone to order the 64GB version. Not sure why I needed the 64GB, but I fell for the 'its only $20 more'. I see now it is up to 2-3 weeks shipping. I am glad people are buying it.

I ordered a 64GB one in Canada at 1:30AM Pacific, and it says shipping in 5-7 days. (Also that in-store pickup isn't an option, which seems odd.)

I also ordered the larger size ATV under the "buy the most storage space you can" theory. Delivers between Oct 6-Oct 13 but I'm gonna hit the store next week to see if I can just get one in person.

It appears the 4k content is streaming only and only for iOS devices? I can't find any movies on my mac in 4k even though the same movies show up on my iPhone as 4k. Hopefully they allow you to download the movies or its going to destroy data caps. I watch movies all the time just to have something on in the background, so I download them to my iMac as a movie server for my 4 apple tvs. If I have to stream them every time its going to be horrible.

Also, has anyone used any of the sites that sell digital movie codes? I just found out about them, people selling their codes to movies.
like this one:

https://digitalworldhd.com

I assume its the code you get when you buy a physical movie and these people don't need/want the digital version? Are these on the up and up? Can anyone recommend a site if so. I am seeing movies that are 20 bucks on iTunes for 4 bucks for the digital code. Seems to good to be true, so I wanted to ask here first before I got scammed.

It needs to be a step up from their 1080p streams, which are worse quality than their 720p ones but with an increased size.

I bought the last generation at 64gb and it was a waste of the extra money, I’ve barely touched it even with a ton of things installed.

I use mine all the time, but just video stuff, so I'm pretty sure I'm not bumping up anywhere near the 32 GB storage. So I just went with that.

Based of their track record, they're going to be garbage. I'm guessing less than Netflix 4k streams which are 15 mbps and meh.

Does anyone use vlc on Apple TV? I can’t use Plex because the Apple TV app needs an internet connection because of reasons, so relying on this.

However theres a bug when you scroll through the list faster than a glacier, and it locks you into a fast scroll. Found the issue here and someone said they got out of it once but not sure how. Months went by and no answer from VideoLAN.

Would be great if tvOS could do something similar at the system level. Would be great for the first round of the baseball playoffs.

Yeah, that would be awesome.

But kudos to Disney/ESPN. Their multichannel blows the PS4's Vue client out of the water. I'm rocking 4 games right now on the TV in a grid (I just swipe to the one I want audio on), and the CBS game on my iPad.

So the TV app was rolled out in Canada today (??) I guess? When I launch it it just spins on "Watch Now" and "Store" so I'm guessing this is going to be near useless for the forseeable future outside of the USA?

Woah, I just noticed a feature I’ve never seen before. Not sure if it’s a new Netflix feature, a new tvOS feature, or it’s always been there and I just noticed it.

So I’m watching something on Netflix and I tapped on the touchpad to see how far into the show I was and then I accidentally tapped it again and it showed the current time (6:01pm) at the spot where I was in the show and then what time the show will end at the end of the timeline.

Anyone else ever notice this?

edit: it’s not a Netflix thing since it’s doing it in YouTube too. And it’s definitely a new tiny feature of tvOS 11

Right?

The TV provider thing is the biggest whiff Apple has had in awhile. Why not ensure there would be a decent level of participation before announcing it?

The complaints about single sign-on are kind of ridiculous considering A. the implementation is entirely out of their control, and B. none of the competition has anything like it. Same goes for the TV app. It’s decent, it’s unique, and it’s not their fault the industry is moronic.

As a Comcast customer like myself, you have to know this is undoubtedly due to Comcast being the most stubborn and useless communications company on the planet. Hence we don’t even get the Viacom channels.

I want U-Verse (which has the same message) just because my inlaws subscribe to everything and therefore my HBO and Showtime apps won’t time out.

This is a pretty good stealth update that is going to be immeasurably useful.

Also cool is the iCloud Home Screen syncing. I've only got two 4th gen AppleTVs but it was really nice to get them both looking exactly the same.

they're gonna release an amazon video app at WWDC

maybe they'll release the amazon video app during the iphone keynote

they'll probably release the amazon video app when they release tvOS 11

I'll bet they release the amazon video app when the AppleTV4k comes out

Comcast has said that they're interested in an open and platform-agnostic standard for authentication rather than Apple's closed one which doesn't strike me as a terrible thing. Plus Comcast already knows Apple wants to eat their lunch since they reportedly had talks about partnering to do a video subscription service that broke down, so the desire to help Apple TV supplant the X1 settop box as the home video solution isn't real strong.

Does the new Control Center remote in iOS11 only work with the Apple TV 4/K? I can’t get it to see my ATVs (3, the small black 1080p type) and I’m wondering if that’s why. Airplay and the old Remote app work fine so I know my Wi-Fi is good.

I get the impression from that article that “it’s not open” is just a good sounding excuse. Especially with the talk of “Home based” at the end, makes it seem like they only are interested in a system where you can sign in from your Comcast home through your Comcast modem which gives you Comcast internet.

Not sure if anyone else has dealt with this but this is my first time seeing this glitch. For some reason last night when I was airplaying from my Mac to my Apple TV, the audio stayed on the Mac. I even tried clicking the Apple TV under output audio settings.

Not sure what to do.

Comcast has been saying that for years and the only thing they've done is TV Everywhere, which is garbage that forgets you every 3 - 7 days. I doubt they even have a team developing anything—that article is a year old and I bet it's the most recent thing you could find about it. Always assume the worst from the cable industry and you'll never be surprised.

Absolutely, you can almost guarantee shifting goalposts the second someone actually sets it up.

I genuinely dig the service I get on x1, but the company themselves are still a nightmare.
