Twerk from Home posted:Does Ford's powertrain warranty cover cooling system? I'm having a really hard time finding that out from the documentation. For what it's worth, my 2012 V6's water pump failed leaky (blew out all its coolant on the floor) last year when I was at the stealership for an oil change, which is the best time and place for a warrantied part to fail.

Hmm. Well, I'm going to look around the waterpump, and I guess maybe gamble that it's there. Worst case I pay dealer labor rate to find and fix some other, more minor leak. Good news is non-waterpump leaks should be a cheaper fix.

Getting a little bored of these wheels. Don't want bullitts again, not too thrilled by any of the other 'standard' mustang wheels. Want something black though.

Something possessed some family members to buy this: They aren't really automotive enthusiasts but saw this on the corner and wanted it. They claim it was owned by an old man who had worked on it a lot. That appears to be at least partially true based on how clean it looks to my untrained eye. About 59k miles. Any words of wisdom I can pass to them? Thanks guys.

No visible leaks from any coolant hoses or anything radiator related, everything was bone dry. I lost coolant over time but never a puddle under the tire until one day there was, we ended up blaming the water pump gasket failing. Replaced water pump (which was probably fine, which I kept) It's respective gasket, t-stat and gasket, even with 3 gallons of motorcraft orange the repair only cost little over 100$. My theory was too much air was forced into the water pump on a hot day and blew out the gasket with no where for air to escape? No issues since, Ford later (after "13) added the hose from the factory with the air check valve.

I bought myself a 2012 v6 back when I graduated college and then traded it for a mini once I moved to downtown DC just because I needed a small car. Missed the stang the whole time and now that I've left DC I decided it was time to come back. Traded the mini in for a '16 ecoboost convertible and I gotta say- this is a real nice car. Air conditioned seats take a bit to get used to though- you sort of have to allow yourself to accept the sick pleasure of it blowing pleasant cool air up your rear end.

Fitting that it happened here, since there's a lot of Mustang owners out there who could use a few more servings of fruits and vegetables in their diet.

Thanks, but I threw in the towel after looking unsuccessfully for any sign of a leak and just took it to the dealer. Here's hoping that there's a TSB out and they put the new coolant hose on.

Goddammit, Ford Sync, why do you have to suck so badly? This morning it decided that it was no longer connected via Bluetooth to my phone, so I told it to reconnect and it did, and then showed the screen it shows when it's playing a song, and it appeared to be playing normally but there was no sound. Okay, fine, plug in the USB cable. "This media device is unavailable." Try to switch back to Bluetooth, the button does nothing. This happens maybe every few weeks, and a master reset fixes it, but I'm driving right now so I can't do a master reset. Switch to the radio, and notice that the volume adjust buttons on the wheel have stopped changing the volume; pressing one pops up the volume adjust overlay, but they won't actually change the volume. Also can no longer change stations via the steering wheel. Fine. Get to work, park the car, disconnect my phone, try to do a master reset. The overlay "Resetting to factory defaults..." shows up. And stays on for a long time. Then it just gives up and doesn't actually reset anything; the system never goes dark and reboots, it just kicks me back out to the Settings page. And the amazing thing is that this is better than the previous versions of Sync.

I dont know anyone with a Ford, that actually likes it or can get it to work right on the 1st try. Unfortunately out of all the OEM infotainment systems that come stock with cars, GM's Uconnect system, is hands down the best. I know its heresy, but Ford should license this tech from GM and not Microsoft. Second place for hands free / bluetooth compatibilty Im gonna have to give it to KIA. The interface is simple, but the S*** just works.

Ford's replacing my waterpump under powertrain warranty, and I'm getting coolant replacement out of the deal too obviously. I'm setting a calendar reminder for 2 years from now to replace this hose when I replace coolant next. Thanks!
