The most epic adventure ever undertaken
A Solution for a Solution~

1. Recognize that the ingredients are in Latin (There’s a lot of Latin in HP, at least one person on each team of 7 should be able to figure that out, easy).

2. Translate (I used google and assumed most others would as well.

3. Figure out the main “property” of each plant. Culpepper was a clue here. If you google Culpepper herbal youll get a link to this site: http://www.complete-herbal.com/culpepper/completeherbalindex.htm, from which the properties can be found. If you wiki Culpepper you’ll find a link to this page from the main one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_plants_in_The_English_Physitian, wherein the properties can also be found- that each herb falls “under” a different planet.

4. The wiki mentions astrology about 6 dozen times, specifically saying that Culpeper would combine astrology with herbalism. I also referenced “one other subject" - astronomy. Finally, in the Voynich documentaries I posted, they also establish the link between astrology and botany and state that if someone were to be cured with herbs, their natal chart would need to be known.

5. Harry Potter’s date of birth can be puzzled out from the books and can also be found with a google search or a search on Pottermore.

6. Enter 7/31/1980 into any online natal chart calculator (I used café astrology), along with anywhere in England (I used London) and any time (I left the default 12am, any time will work) and you’ll produce HP’s natal chart.

7. The locations of the 5 planets are listed in degrees and minutes. If you look up mercury, for instance, you’ll see the result is 19 degrees, 00 minutes. Venus is 25 degrees, 32 minutes.

8. Extrapolate that degrees and minutes can be substituted for cups and ounces.

9. 32 ounces = 4 cups, so add that to the degrees for Venus and Jupiter.

10. Relate each amount back to the ingredient that is under that planet and you’ll receive the following results:
19 cups Caraway
29 cups Parsnips
12 cups Garlic
15 cups Hyssop
24 cups Barley

**After generating the natal chart, I also would have accepted using the "House" that each of the planets falls in - for example 8 cups of Parsnips because Venus (which rules parsnips) was in the 8th house**

And there you go! Fill your cauldron, add water and let simmer, wave your wand a few times whilst muttering something in Latin and ~voila!~ a potion for Potter (or a lot of very garlicy Barley stew for Keane, may his hunger be sated, God rest my mandrakes).

So sad no one got this though a couple students seemed extremely close!! I'll just have to soothe myself with points~

Hello, yes! Is being very good day for posting, no?
Paris managed to work out the connection with planets, but we didn't go as far as to work with actual astrology--we thought it might be something name-based. Great puzzle, though!

Month 9 Results
Gryffindor was awarded +20 Points
Slytherin was awarded +20 points
Hufflepuff was awarded +20points

Month 9 Event 1 - Tomes the Think Engine
As time goes on within Hogwarts, all the little witches and wizards continue to learn and do their parents, their houses, and most importantly; their Professors proud! Professor Podima's gruelling eye cast over students in the library, feverishly noting down ancient notes in an attempt to translate his tome on magical philosophy. The persistent scratching of quills was interrupted, however, by a startled yelp from Chaoslord, who was rubbing his backside and grimacing. Professor Podima leapt on the chance "If you can't stay quiet in a library, then you can leave..Slord. Now!" All of a sudden, Meinberg let out a 'Psfhfhtt' as he panicked and choked off a giggle. He strained red in the face as Podima scowled at him "Is something...funny, Meinberg?" He sweetly asked, to which Meinberg launched into a bout of uncontrollable giggles. "GET OUT!" Podima hissed, and frogmarched him out of the library, where he continued to giggle uncontrollably.

Upon his return back, a frazzled Professor Podima marked the translations quickly. "Great work Slytherin, cream of the crop like always! Twenty points to"
"um sir? Sir?" Nintholemew furtively asked "Isn't the slytherin translation missing the fact that the great philospher Banblekki was actually a woman? they gendering is all wrong throughout!"

Podima sputtered and looked again at the Slytherin work, going back and forth between it, the Ravenclaw submission and the tome itself.
As if drawing a mandrake from a Giant's belly, Podima ground out "20 points to Ravenclaw" then stomped off to roar some more at Mordecius' still panicked giggling.

Month 9 Event 2 - Slightly Premented individual
Professor Burgundy checked his ornate grandfather clock sitting in the Defence against the Dark Arts classroom. Dementor o'clock was nearing and right at 3 o'clock on the dot, he opened the door to find exactly one student standing there. Deena stood up rigidly and smiled at the professor "Sir can i fight some dementors now? Whoosh wheee I'll stupefy them into stupefaction, you'll see!" She continued to make whooshing and bam sounds punctuated with vicious jabs of her wand.
Professor Burgundy looked around, saw the slumped form of Grandicap against the wall just outside the classroom. He was snoring, and a large puddle of drool had formed on his right shoulder where his head rested.
"Go along child... clearly people think Dementors are nothing interesting nowadays. 20 Points for Ravenclaw for showing an interest at least i guess..." Burgundy sadly shut the door and walked back to his desk. He really thought he'd gotten through to the kids this time. Perhaps next month?

Month 9 Quidditch - Ravenclaw vs Slytherin
Ravenclaw was the talk of the school this month. After performing so admirably, it seemed that this month was theirs! Their past attempts at what can loosely be called "Quidditch i guess, if i was threatened with my life to call it that and even then i'd struggle", Slytherin could be forgiven for being a bit relaxed about an easy win. And so Slytherin took the field, and started with a bang, more than doubling Ravenclaw's efforts for the first period. But that was what stunned the crowd. Ravenclaw were playing. 90-50 Slytherin led, and the game moved into a stable period with Ravenclaw staying within snitch contention the entire time! The score sat at 140-100, anybody's game when suddenly the Slytherin Seeker spotted the snitch! The crowd roared at the sudden dive, and the Ravenclaw seeker was hit on his tail! Arm outstretched, the Slytherin neared the snitch, only to see a bludger heading straight at him. He dodged to the left barely missed by the bludger, and the snitch was prime for the taking by Ravenclaw!

Except that the snitch bizarrely changed direction too, and flew to the left also, leaving Slythin with a quick snatch and grab, and the game was theirs! 250-120

Slytherin have won +40 points

.
Month 10
The final Term had arrived at Hogwarts, and that meant End of Year exams were coming up! But that wasn't all. The end of year celebrations this year would include a school Dance! All the girls and boys were giddy with excitement, hoping to be chosen as House representative.
Headmaster busb addressed the Great Hall "While typically the Yule Ball would be for Fourth Years and up only, and after a Triwizard Cup celebration, the Ministry of Magic, and indeed I and all the Professors, think it would be a fantastic idea to kick off the end of year with a bang! Dancing with partners would be somewhat inappropriate given your ages, and as such, each house will nominate one student to perform a solo dance! You may select the genre and style, but all i ask is that it expresses the happiness and joy that hogwarts brings to you, and that you represent your house as best you can! The Friendliest and most Empathetic students will fare best at this. This event will be held in the Great Hall on {Friday 6 October at 9PM EST. OR Saturday 9PM. open for negotiation...this is the only time my timezone will allow me to do it properly}. Ooh pardon me, must have been the butterbeer...

2d10=6,3 Month 10 Event 1 - Bewitching Gnomebarkroot
Professor Novis smiled at her class. "Children, you may have noticed a distinct lack of, ooh i don't know MANDRAKES in my nursery. Her lips thinned even more.
"In order to rectify this... unfortunate mistake by an unnamed Gryffindor, i need everyone to help me create a charm to help some mandrake seeds sprout. Please gather some Gnomebarkroot from the grounds, and cast this useful charms spell to make it sing a lullaby. Only then will the mandrakes properly sprout and be my new precious babies.
This event tests your combined= (Effort * Charms) + (Effort + Empathy) + (Effort * Herbology) + (Effort + Bravery) +4 Duellist, + 4 Friendly, +4 Bully
The House with the largest total will win +20 points!

2d10=5,1 Month 10 Event 2 - Ecliptic Dozeypop
It was a miserable Tuesday morning that saw Professor Mudd slumped at his desk. Suddenly he jerked upright "WHAT? NO I DONT HAVE A PROBL..oh good mornnnnafternoon students. Oh sorry about that lets get into learning! Won't this be fun! What i want you to do is figure out how to make me a nice, delicious batch of Ecliptic Dozeypop. Turn to page... oh no it won't be in there will it. Humm well i'm sure there's a formula somewhere in Professor Novis' dungeon, just get it from there. I'll reward you well! Just one last batch will get me over this hump... then i'll be fine, i promise." he reasoned with himself before lapsing into a dazed silence.

The class looked at each other, before quietly tiptoeing out of the room, leaving Mudd to his reveries again.
This event will test your combined= Effort + (Potions * Astronomy) + (Potions + Cunning) + (Astronomy + Cunning) + 4 Pureblooded, +4 Prankster
The House with the greatest total will win +20 points!

Things have been too quiet since Christmas. I have a new puzzle for any student who's interested. If you can solve this one, you will earn twenty points for your house.

You don't have to be worried that it's anything like the secret message; this one should be much easier. In fact, if you have an eye for music these days, this might be a breeze for you. Follow the link provided below to find a list of clues to a modern band, with an answer space provided with some slots marked with a number. Finding those mystery band will help you uncover the line to a song. If you can provide me the name of that song and the artist, I'll count that as a solve.

Best of luck!

https://imgur.com/a/EZlIg

Oh, and one more thing: I'll still honor rewarding points if you uncover the secret message from the previous puzzle.

Just to confirm a couple of things that are confusing people. Months 11 and 12 are normal months with rng events and Quidditch. In your month 12 actions, I will need each house to nominate a dancer for the ball that can make the live event.

After this, there will be an automatic Month 13, which will involve me resolving all end of year exams.

After that will be the discord event Yule Ball me Great Hall which will culminate with me awarding all end of year points, and the House Cup.

Slytherin was awarded +40 points

Month 10 Event 1 - Bewitching Gnomebarkroot

With the beginning of the final term, classwork started to get much more difficult for the students. Professor Novis' assignment to regrow Mandrakes was definitely a tall order for the burgeoning class, but they took to it with gusto!
While Gryffindor and Hufflepuff could be graciously complemented on their attendance, Slytherin really tried to help Novis out, and even nearly managed to grow one!
But it was Ravenclaw's Meinberg that stunned Novis, as they managed to coax not one, not two, but a whole clutch of baby Mandrakes, and their dozey wrinkled faces made Vivan smile!
Ravenclaw were awarded +20 points

Month 10 Event 2 - Ecliptic Dozeypop
Professor Mudd wiped his face on his handkerchief messily before addressing the class.
"Ahemmm, well lets have a look at all this then hmm? I'm really quite thirsty you know."
Mudd examined the bottles in front of him, and took a heady taste of the first. "Ravenclaws good work if i do say so myself. Mm nicely acidic with a hint of nightshade, just how i like it! Not like this Slytherin slop. Which coincidentally i will keep just so there's no unintentional poisonings that take place of course.
"20 points to Ravenclaw!"

Month 10 Quidditch - Hufflepuff vsGryffindor
There was a certain feeling in the air in the morning as the school sat down for breakfast. A simmering tension punctuated by glares from Gryffindor across the hall to Hufflepuffs. Spitballs charmed to fly over a blow raspberries in the faces of unsuspecting little mages, and one incident that left poor Xiwvier with a knee engorged to the size of a quaffle, requiring him to be immediately escorted to the Infirmary!
With that, the bells rung, and the students filed out to the Hogwarts Quidditch Pitch, for a game that would possibly decide the winner of the Quidditch Cup for the year!

With Xiwvier missing it seemed it was up to the rest of the team to cover, and cover they did. Wizard for Wizard they outcompeted their counterparts, quaffles zooming at an alarming rate and bludgers battered away fiercely! With the score at 150-60, the first period belonged to the Huffs! A changeup in tactics then resulted in Gryffindor steaming up the left flank, hoping to take advantage of Hufflepuff's substitute winger. But alarmingly for the Gryffs, the sub proved more than able to give as much as they got, and the scoreboard pressure continued to mount 330-100.

Then in exasperation, the captain of the Gryffindor team called out to their Seeker. "You can't take the Snitch, we'll lose, keep their Seeker occupied until we get their lead down a bit. Trust us! We can do it!"

And then with a quick peptalk after another conceded goal, the Gryffs returned to their positions, and set off the try and get the game back. For the next 30 minutes, Gryffindor's seeker played interference, ensuring that the Huffle never got more than a sniff. The rest of the team however centred on their playmaker. Dealing out passes, ruining by intercepts and proving unstoppable in setting up goals, Gryffindor surged back into the game and at 350-220 behind.

But that was just what the Gryffindor Seeker was waiting for. With victory in his grasp he sought in earnest. And with a brief tussle, while his exhausted team surged on, he snatched it up, cementing a fantastic victory for Gryffindor at 350-370, and winning an insurmountable lead in the Hogwarts Quidditch Cup! Congratulations Gryffindor!

Gryffindor were awarded +40 points

Month 11
While the Quidditch Cup was now all wrapped up for the year, there were plenty of opportunities still left for Houses to earn points! And with exams now only two months away, studying for the prestigious awards of Dux of the Grade and of best in each class up for the taking, points lost or gained could make all the difference!

2d10= 7,5 Month 11 Event 1 - Bringing Sextants Back
Professor Podima scratched at his beard, thinking about his own time at school. He had studied very hard, before the Voldemort years, and recalled a time where the proper analysis of an ancient tome would be highly regarded. He remembered fondly the tome he had studied for his first year exams, a compilation of magical navigation tools, and how enchanting a sextant for one Ferdinand Magellan had unlocked wizards around the whole world. Maybe his students would find it equally as fascinating?

This event tests your combined: (Effort*Magical History) + (Effort*Astronomy) + (Magical History + Empathy) + (Astronomy + Cunning) +6 Studious, +6Pureblooded
The House with the largest combined total will win +20 points

2d10=9,6 Month 11 Event 2 - Quit Itch Woes - duel event
It was easy to see how it began. I mean, Gryffindor *had* been very loud. For a long time. Well for about a week really. Non-stop. And it finally reached a point where new kid on the block Aedon was just fed up! "Shut up you stupid boors, some of us actually care baout real wizarding, not flying around on sticks that look as shabby as my aunt's third-rate hovel!" And then it was off, Bowmore charged at the Slytherin "JUST BROOMS eh?! Let me broom you... in the face! With my wand that isn't a broom but my mouth makes broom sounds listen BROOM BROOM!" and a lot more that was indecipherable quidditch induced rage.
Well, suffice to say that with animosity high, it was to their credit that they decided not to use their fists, but a more scholarly pursuit. Sort of.
"Bowmore, i challenge you to an ivy-off!" Aedon piped up above the growing murmur.
"We both have to sit on a throne made of itching-ivy! Whoever can prepare the best unguent to prevent ivy-rash wins! The loser well, lets just say they'll be scratching their butt! Because that's what they will do![/i] The Hufflepuffs, still bitter about their loss, eagerly offered their help to Aedon, and Ravenclaws who couldn't care less about quaffle-throw merely helped Gryffindor as a way to practice some Herbology before the exams.

This event is Wrenvs bowmore
