Ah interesting sounds a lot like the gw2 expansion. I just hope they don't copy the heavily scripted ope. World events with branching paths based on failure or success and player choice gw2 had. It sounded and seemed really cool in theory -in practice you'd habe drops and achievementd locked behind certain choices so whoops too bad if the majority of people in the zone wanted/needed something else. Also folks would alao abandon the zone if you didn't run what they needed so there was a chance you'd be short the bodies needed to even finish.

So I've been playing Limbo almost exclusively for about a week now and wow, you can do so much with these abilities! Not only can you escort rescued NPCs through anything, you can also exile enemy jailers to prevent them from interacting with the consoles and sounding the alarms. You can also capture targets while in limbo (which means you can basically skip the entire mission up to that point). If you have Cipher and are bad at Spy, you can brute force most rooms, since you are immune to CC. You can always revive anyone on your team, no matter how many enemies surround them... There are just so many ways you can break the game with Limbo's toolkit. Spy, Interception, Capture, Rescue, Mobile Defense, Sabotage are easily exploitable simply by using Limbo. More importantly, you can address issues which may arise while playing with public matchmaking. Earlier today, this Nova player kept dying while we were trying to farm Nidus parts. I noticed the player mainly used melee so I created a bubble of stop time around the Nova. Suddenly the player stopped dying and did relatively well for the rest of the mission.

Basically I can't get enough of Limbo and, given how easy he is to itemize for (Limbo doesn't scale with power and has infinite energy for all intents and purposes), I am able to spend all my Forma on weapons instead.

Went ahead and listened to a goon in chat last night and bought Nidus early on, instead of getting to the content and grinding it out. Boy oh boy is that a fun frame. I regret nothing.

I already asked in chat but my level 20ish current mod layout is: +CorPro +Vitality +Armor +AbilityRange +AbilityPower

Anything vital I'm missing? And how many polarizations are generally recommended? Guessing with 2 you get most of the important stuff and max levelled?

Sounds good for Nidus! He doesn't need efficiency at all because the energy restore per enemy hit with his first power is always 25% of its cost, and his third and fourth don't use any energy.

Edit: Oh, get yourself a copy of Rage if you don't have it. Gives energy on health loss, and since Nidus has no shields...

Lets talk about Nidus more. I've built him for power and range, one build I have has blind rage on it. I've found that while he does get a lot of his energy back if your are good at using his 1, but I've also come across the fact that he still has a pretty limited pool of energy, so its still a good idea to get effiency up at least a little bit so you can cast more than 3 times in a row if you wiff, or use his 2.

It doesn't make any sense to not use streamline on a frame.

Also Nidus is great with like 1 forma and an Exilus slot for Sprint as a melee god. He desperately needs Natural Talent for the casting speed as well

Hello friends, I am rather new to the game and enjoying it very much. I finished War Within, got dragged through my first few sorties and think I have a basic grasp on most of the mechanics and inner workings of the game. Currently I'm running an Ember for low level farming content and the free Frost Prime for 'oh poo poo I need to survive until someone else finshes the objective' content.
So now it's time for my first project and it just so happens that I did complete my very own Valkyr Prime yesterday. I love the idea behind the frame and want to go full Valhalla with sword, shield and wings.

Here's my question to you: How viable are the two available sword/shield combos or even melee builds in Warframe's late game? I'm talking holding my own in sorties and actually being able to put out comparable killing numbers. It didn't really feel to me like a melee focussed character would ever be able to keep up with the room clearing power of certain other Warframes but my hope is that I'm simply missing the combination/solution that'd make this style of play an efficient one.

I checked the wiki but couldn't really find a section for builds, modchoices and the like. Are there any good resources out there regarding mod setup, polarization requirements and other intermediate build stuff?

PS: Inventory limits really suck when starting out.

There hasn't been any discount sales in my year of continuous play(on plat, there have been sales on items purchased with plat though). That said you SHOULD wait until you get a 75% coupon from a login reward. New people seems to have a higher chance of it happening. I'd say if you are still playing in three months and haven't gotten one, you are really unlucky and should probably settle for a 50%.

when the big steam sales happen, warframe "dlc" usually also gets a reduction. most likely a worse deal than -75% but in 203 days logged i've seen a -50% once and no 75

Yeah when I was first looking at purchasing stuff the direct plat conversion for the "Get the weapons and frame" tier was well over a 50% discount, though yeah not anywhere near the 75% plus it came with a potato'd frame and weapons. That's neither here or there though if you don't know or like the offered gear.
I've definitely gotten my mileage out of my syb and silv & aegis prime, even if the goatman was largely shelved. Of course that's also committing to paying 80 bucks on a f2p game.

I'm currently using the Hirudo with a crit and attack speed build to wipe the floor with sortie level enemies. Part of the reason that works so well is that the Hirudo has innate life leech on it and so attacking really fast with big crits means i'm constantly at full health, essentially making me invincible as long as nothing can one shot me. This works really well with frames with a lot of armor, like Valkyr (not the highest but she's up there).

For that build you want Drifting Contact to up your combo time, Berserker for attack speed, and Blood Rush for crazy crit chance. Then throw on crit damage and raw damage. The Hirudo only has an innate 15% crit chance, which i'm definitely buffing out with True Steel, so anything with that should work out fine damage wise. The Silva and Aegis Prime is at 15% and the Ack and Brunt are at 20%, but regular silva and aegis is at 5%. The Ack and Brunt has a little less damage, and the Silva and Aegis prime has significantly more, but both are noticeably slower than the Hirudo.

Any way all that is to say that melee is still viable at end game, there are builds that are Atterax builds that are far more devastating than what I'm doing while using a very similar mod set up.

So try something like that with the Ack and Brunt and then the Silva and Aegis Prime whenever you're able to get that, should work pretty well. As for status melee weapons I don't really know much there, haven't messed around with status heavy builds before.

Also, Valkyr is great, she's maybe my most used frames and definitely one of my most used for sorties and other high tier stuff. Melee party, as I understand it, is Rhino, Volt, Valkyr, and Harrow for maxing out the bonus melee and attack speed buffs. though maybe replace harrow with octavia because it will likely be easier to maintain her melee damage buff than harrow's attack speed buff, maybe she's just flat out the better choice there anyway because she can buff melee damage and make people invisible where as harrow can only buff attack speed (and there is already a volt and valkyr for that). Either way, Valkyr is an excellent frame. She has a fun mobility power that can also toss around single target enemies, War Cry is amazing and doubly so with the Eternal War Syndicate mod, I basically never use her 3 but it's an ok crowd control I just tend to prefer slowing everyone down as opposed to knocking them down for a second, and her four turns her into an invincible melee blender that can slide attack anything to death including lots of bosses.

Slots and potatoes
Syndanas
Color pallets (there are a few bundles in the market and sales for color pallets are somewhat common, as far as sales go)
Alternate skins and armor sets

there are a couple of frames people usually recommend buying over other just because of how much of a pain they can be to farm:
Nidus, there's one mission people usually have to do a dozen or more times to get a single piece
Ivara, if you hate spy missions
Mesa, if you don't want to save up mutalist alad v keys from invasions, and can't find other goons to supply you with keys. you can probably find other people to supply you with keys
Equinox, if the thought of farming a boss until he drops one of each six pieces you need to build equinox as opposed to the regular three pieces really annoying
Titania, because her quest is long and boring and annoying

pretty much all of those i would recommend against buying but those are the ones i see tossed around as good choices for spending plat. And reminder that any frame or weapon bought with plat comes with a potato and a slot, and I believe they ignore MR limitations but don't quote me on that.

if you want to be silly:
Liset/Ship types and skins
Ember Prime
super rare and expensive mods and rivens

I've not been super impressed with sword n board, but the Ack & Brunt has an insane synergy with Nyx's Absorb. It requires two specialized mods (Electromagnetic Shielding for A&B, Assimilate for Nyx), so it's pretty late game, but it transfers 50% of all team damage to you, which instead of damaging you charges the Absorb (translates it into damage against enemies).

But I don't think that's what you're really asking.

I mostly use melee weapons to quick attack to get some breathing room to reload, but I'm rarely disappointed by the room clearing ability of melee in general. Galaprime, Atterax, Redeemer, Destreza, a bunch of others all of their fans. If you want to be getting the same number of kills as say, Maim Equinox, you'll probably be disappointed, but if you're asking "can a team using only melee reasonably clear Sortie content" then, in general, yes, you can.

FunkyFjord

A team built specifically for melee damage can laugh all the way through the sortie, assuming all of the sortie actually lets them use melee.
