Kawabata posted:Is that so? I've heard about the story not being as "good" (lol) as XC1 but everyone who played it told me the gameplay is even better with a host of qol improvements the predecessor obviously didn't have. I played XC 1 after XCX, and while I agree with you that the plot becomes pretty trash, the experience of going to the various areas, seeing the sites, hearing the music and progressing is much more interesting and satisfying in the first one. XCX has better moment to moment gameplay, like the combat is much more engaging and it's generally joyful to run and jump around. But the plot is trash, the pacing is terrible both in the macro sense and in just completing sidequests, and the game takes several steps backwards in terms of QOL. Most notably the party and the mission systems seem to have been designed by an insane person who has only had the concept of videogames described to them in a language they're not fluent in.

The puppetmaster defense is childish and your use of ellipsis reminds me of a schizophrenic or a moron on posting on a Garfield facebook fangroup. Please think for a goddamn second about how stupid what you're writing is. And Wolfenstein was not a documentary and the events did not happen in real time.

nerdz posted:If they ported XCX and bayonetta 2 to the switch I would be able to forget that the wii U exists. The fact that XCX is bad means I'm halfway there anyway. I know this thread has somehow convinced itself that the Wii U only has 2 good games, but it's more like over 10 fantastic exclusives, plus the good ones, plus complete Wii retro compatibility the Switch doesn't have. The fact that it was a failure sales wise (and that the Switch is a better console) doesn't mean that it's skippable if you like Nintendo games, sorry guys. Tender Bender posted:I played XC 1 after XCX, and while I agree with you that the plot becomes pretty trash, the experience of going to the various areas, seeing the sites, hearing the music and progressing is much more interesting and satisfying in the first one. You're almost convincing me not to get it. Why is every review positive on XCX, even the Yatzeeh one of all things? Is this one of those cases where reviewers completely ignored the games' flaws and didn't give a gently caress? The game still has an excellent word of mouth.

Just finished Golf Story. Overall I liked it a whole lot. Very clever writing, lots of variety in locales and challenges, and it's not a bad golf game either. I think there could be more depth to the golfing, and I wish they had a few more ball-bustingly difficult courses like the final one, but it still does a very good job of replicating those excellent handheld Mario RPGS (golf/tennis).
