I will say that Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell acted their asses off in spite of the material. But yeah, I was never looking for some big grand prophecy or this or that. And that shift that occurs when the final 5 find each other.... it’s like how the gently caress did we get here from there?

Watching Reilly: Ace of Spies, which I saw about half of in reruns some years ago but have never finished. I remembered Sam Neill being great in it and he is. Would've been a great James Bond, so he would.

My girlfriend and I have this game we play, where we write down our predictions for the season of each show we're watching. We're allowed to update them halfway through the season, and we do it for every show we watch. It's kind of fun, but she's eerily good at stuff like this.

She had predicted a lot of the things that happened in the Good Place.

She predicted the Ending of Loss.

She's predicted everyone whose died it in TWD

She's called every major shot in GoT.

It's kind of getting ridiculous lol. I put my foot down when we watch Rick and Morty season finale live, and she reveals her note that says:

"Season Ends with Rick and the President have a huge dumb fight, The President probably has really lovely Rick Tech. The whole thing is an inversion of the first episode of the first season, down to the family being happy and Rick being miserable but staying (Instead of Rick being happy, and the family being miserable.) Nothing important happens with all of the set up, and all of the character growth makes the family better

Also Ricklantis Mixup is a fake-out. It's going to be some artsy avant garde thing that'll make the internet cream it's pants."

Yes, if you enjoy super cheesy dialogs, sweaty male bodies moving around in most scenes just because sweaty male bodies, terrible acting, awkward sex and combat scenes that always follow the line of getting the hero's rear end pounded heavily before he heroicly rises up and make his victory move.

edit:
Also, why are most characters speaking like they're in a poorly performed Oddyssee play?

another game at nationwide arena. everybody keeps asking me if they can fuck the cannon. buddy, they don't even let me fuck it

I tried Brockmire and it sucked.

I tried Get Shorty and am going to have to watch 5 1/2 more episodes between now and Sunday in case EPIX takes the episodes off the on-demand channel on Spectrum (unless they keep them on there past the "Expires" date, which I'd assume they would), but I'm fine with that because it's great. Delta had Get Shorty as part of their in-seat video offering and I tried it on a whim. Ray Romano's character is a delightful tire fire of a human being and April (Megan Stevenson) is underrated in what she does.

e- My one complaint is a pet peeve of mine in watching TV: I hate it when a series which is a reboot/reimagining uses a lazy method to either call back to the original or tie in an original element of the first series.

When I watched Hawaii Five-0 before it turned into a product placement-laden pile of crap, Danny's daughter referred to him as "Danno", referring back to "Book 'em, Danno" from the original 1960s series. In Get Shorty, Miles refers to his daughter as "Shorty". It's like they're saying "Uh, this is kinda related to the book and the movie, but...I don't know...use "Shorty" as a nickname for the kid and call it even."

So, I flew through leftovers. I'm not... Sure how I feel. Going through the seasons,it felt a little disjointed at points but I really enjoyed the majority of season 3. Scott Glenn is a treasure. I'm near the end of Season 1 and I 'm not sure either. It's pretty decently made and has some interesting ideas, but the dream and misunderstanding tropes are killing me.

edit: Finished Season 1. I'd summarize that Leftovers is pretty average TV series that struggles to find enough interesting things to fill its runtime. Didn't bother moving on to following seasons.

It has SUPER formulaic, amateur hour network TV writing/directing with some pretty bad actors.

However Sam Worthington and Paul Bettany are great, and the story itself is at its core quite interesting, so despite the  it's pretty alright.

Season 2 has a new setting and replaces a lot of the secondary cast. It's a mini reboot and it's really good. New theme song too that's not up its rear end about how prestige tv it is.
