Pretty sure the GWS Live one came out on their site for $40 so that would have been a good deal.

Record Store Day The Pod is over-priced.

Pod on vinyl is worth it (though I haven't heard the RSD version, only the Shimmydisc). It's also pretty much entirely unavailable at this point, so it might be a good idea to pick it up at that price, 'cause it's only gonna get more expensive after that.

Just announced!

I'm skipping over the San Francisco shows, but I'm currently seeing round trip flights to Austin for $204, so I'm locking this one down. Also I'm gonna get hosed up on endless plates of barbecue.

Stubbs is a cool place to see a show but I was pretty drunk the one time I went there, so maybe I'm misremembering.

It's pretty good, but it has a severe time crunch issue - as it's outdoors and there are fancy apartments nearby, they're REALLY anal about the 11pm noise curfew. (10:30? 11? I could swear it's 11, but google is telling me 10:30.) I've seen multiple acts realize that they can't play nearly as long as they wanted to and have to crunch it down. One ended up kinda flustered and ran through a one song encore when they clearly planned for more. Another actually learned their lesson and started early the next time they came through.

Totally going to try and get in for at least one of those shows, though.

Apparently the 3rd date is some kinda glitch and it's just two nights.

On a happier but unrelated note, I came across this ultrabrown version of Spinal Meningitis on reddit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UaxDlJEc3k. I dug it and maybe you dudes will too.

Mah favorite Spinal Meningitis!

This happened a couple days after the infamous meltdown show, tensions were high as gently caress. It actually went down on my birthday in my city, but I was in LA at the time. My friend still call it the weirdest Ween show they'd ever seen.

The Polka Dot Tail is pretty outstanding, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyH7W3zNPJQ

Interesting, I didn't know they kept playing right after the meltdown show. I guess it makes sense since they didn't officially break up until a year or so later but I figured after that shitshow they would have taken more than a couple days off.

Dean claims that in the list of all-time onstage Ween meltdowns, that show might crack the top 20, but it became infamous because it happened just as Youtube was taking off.

I get to see Ween three times in one year!

I'm seeing them this weekend at a really cool small outdoor amphitheater in a park in my hometown. Been a while since they last played in town, but that show was loving nuts so I'm excited.

e: show did not suck

Anyone out there with the ability to fix this Boognish? The left-side spike is cut off and I'd like to get this printed on a bike jersey.

I had to skip out on the SF shows for an LA visit. If that was the last chance, I'm burning Disneyland to the ground when I get there.

But Mickey just posted in the facebook group: "Just woke up to some chaos, calm down peoples, WEEN IS NOT BREAKING UP."

Doesn't really seem like they would be drug related to me.

I know Deaner has been having money troubles, saying he owes like like half a million in taxes and only makes like $1500 a show so maybe something to do with that?

It would be cool if these guys sat down and wrote some new music.

I love Ween but I saw the reunion shows and a couple others, and it's kinda the same show every time. A nostalgia act.

Mickey is the only good thing left about Facebook.

New Deaner Album early next year!

quote:

Now seems like a good time to announce that the new Deaner album is coming out in March on Schnitzel Records. For the first time since "white pepper" we cut it as a whole band---me, dave, glenn, and claude---and then a lot of the ususal suspects all over it---bill fowler, mike dillon, kidd funkadelic, ray kubian, etc. and many others. We're doing a world tour to support it (including Australia w.Primus!). It's a fantastic record and i produced it at my new studio (now called "Deaner's Studio) to the Never Console and the API as well.) I'm very proud of it---it's very consistent sounding because I have been on a 3 year songwrititng binge, we already have the 3rd album in the can.
