Their end goal is to increase network subscriptions and merchandise sales over there. However...India is an incredibly poor country as a whole, even by US standards. It also doesn't help that India gets the majority of WWE's TV/PPV for free (and I don't mean free network subs either). Some marketing guy probably saw that India has a ton of people, but never bothered to look at the average income or anything else. Also, streaming isn't a cultural thing in India the same way it is in America. See also, why New Japan World is having trouble in Japan. Also, Indians may be different from you and me, but they're not loving stupid and can tell the difference between a native Punjabi speaker and a dude from Canada that happens to know the language. They also, weirdly enough, have access to google!

In India: Punjabi is spoken by around 35m people as of 2015. English is spoken by 122m people as of 2015. Hindi is spoken by 425m+ people as of 2015. Like WWE should know this, considering their Indian broadcast team uses/speaks Hindi.  Also yeah, India doesn't like Jinder. And Vince will probably stop the push the moment financials come in from this attempt at expanding into India. He's absolutely loving stupid from a booking standpoint, but he will also probably stop the push once he realizes network subs/revenue is down in every other country that WWE operates in/has services in, because he's not a complete dumbass when it comes to business decisions. Who could blame him? He's one of the most crisp wrestlers in the world and in the last couple months He lost his title to Tozawa because Vince showed up one day and on a whim decided he wanted a title change He lost his title again on a whim to Enzo who had a very, very short run. His ceiling would be 205 Live and the title is just getting traded around now with no rhyme or reason. He could go to Japan and start making that Young Bucks money for being one of the best wrestlers in the world.
