Mass Effect Andromeda was a good game. You just couldn't let preconceived notions or expectations get in the way. I liked the story and combat was fun, and I beat it and it felt worthwhile. I know that's a hot take but

Mass Effect Andromeda is insanely bad and I'm speaking as someone who actually finished Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition.

MEA is very bad but we all play bad games now and then. The multiplayer was ok though.

You obviously have to have an insanely high IQ and a background in quantum mechanics and meta-alloy physics to 'get' MEA. I'm sorry if you aren't able to maybe you should stick to Big Bang theory.

I'm playing MEA the same way I played ME3: skipping it and continuing to insist that ME1 was the best.

Zat posted:Mass Effect: Andromeda coming to EA Access by the end of the year. Hooray? It's fun enough to play, it handles well, but the writing is... what people assume Joss Whedon writes like. It's pretty cringy in places. The best thing that can be said for it is that it doesn't really try to pretend like your choices matter that much, because they don't. Not in any of the games. If you can get beyond that, PEW! PEWPEWPEW!!!

What are the best games to play on the Xbox game pass for someone that had a 360 and played a lot of those multi-plats on PC? I was thinking Sunset Overdrive, the Gears 1 remake, and Dead Rising 3?

Forza games if you like driving (i like more horizon than the sim) and maybe Halo MC.

Decided to try the Xbox to windows 10 streaming. Looks great, but then I tried Sonic Mania and the game was playing as if it was in 50hz mode from the PAL days. I even timed it and I got 48s of in game time to 1m of real word time. I then go to the Xbox itself to see if it plays any different while connected to the PC and it was the same issue. Once I disconnect the PC everything is back to normal. Is this just an issue with Sonic Mania as I can't find anyone else having issues with other games. Unfortunately I don't have another game to test as I lapsed my Gold membership and the only other game wants a massive download.

Any kind of streaming will have inherent lag yes. Same when streaming PS4 to PC or using PS Now. You might not hear about because alot of people don't notice or just accept that as OK.

you only have 2 games?

It's not lag. And yes I only have 2 games at this moment in time. Lag is not an issue, the controls are responsive. The game is literally playing slower. As I said, 48s of in game time is the same as 1m of real time. Almost as if I was playing sonic 1 on a PAL region mega drive DarthBlingBling fucked around with this message at 02:13 on Oct 13, 2017 |

The game running 20% slower when streamed than when played locally is qualitatively different from lag. Edit: And not as in frame-rate either; as in time dilation. Which is weird because the stream source is not moving relativistically with respect to the stream target. dont be mean to me fucked around with this message at 02:57 on Oct 13, 2017 |

It's probably something that needs the game to get patched, but who knows if they'll bother to do it.

dont be mean to me posted:The game running 20% slower when streamed than when played locally is qualitatively different from lag. Yeah I've experienced this too; on release and post patch. If I go to stream it plays at the lower speed 80% of the time with some hiccups to full-speed. Even if you stop streaming and play on the console itself afterwards it takes a moment(usually about a half zone) to shake off this time dilation on my bone.

Now you know how us Europeans felt when we were playing Sonic back in the day. We actually had no idea we were playing the inferior 50hz PAL versions of Sonic, when I played the US version of Sonic 2 some years ago I was astonished at the difference. It feels like a completely different game. Same for Tekken in the arcades, the PS1 games also ran at the slower time-dilated 50hz mode, but playing the arcade version always felt faster and smoother and as little kids back then we could never put our finger on why. Standardizing television modes to match the US was a pretty huge deal to us here.

So is this a sonic only issue?

# ? Oct 13, 2017 13:15 |

I've no idea of it is a sonic only issue but I was happily playing fallout 4 with no delay that I could see. Crazily, I'm certain that there is less lag when streaming to my pc than when I am using my TV (there's no game settling).

How’s Evil Within 2 treating folks so far? Some streams I’ve seen of it have been a bit hit or miss. Giant bomb was enthusiastic about some cool parts of it. I don’t know if it’s just a Resident Evil clone at this point or what though.

Avatar update is in the Xbox alpha ring still, the new details are cool but there's not much there otherwise. I'm starting to really doubt XBOX back compat is still happening this year, that gamescom press conference would have been the place to announce it.
