South Park: The Fractured But Whole is available TODAY, on PS4/XBOX/PC!

quote:

ABOUT South Park: The Fractured But Whole:

In the quiet mountain town of South Park, darkness has spread across the land. A new power is rising to combat this evil. An entire squad of superheroes will rise, led by a nocturnal scavenger sworn to clean the trash can of South Park society.

The kids are playing superheroes, and Cartman is determined to turn Coon and Friends into the biggest superhero franchise of all time. However, the villainous Professor Chaos emerges with an evil plan to eliminate Coon and Friends. The heroes need to work as a team to fight the chaos and terror that that grips the town.

From the creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, comes South Park™: The Fractured But Whole™, a sequel to South Park™: The Stick of Truth™, winner of 25 video game awards.

Players will once again assume the role of the New Kid. As the newest member of Coon and Friends, you must create your own superhero, build up your notoriety, and use your superpowers to save South Park. Only then will Coon and Friends take their rightful place as the greatest team of superheroes ever assembled, and get the movie deal they so richly deserve. In a city gripped by chaos, Coon and Friends rise to save the day.

A HERO’S ORIGIN REVEALED
Every hero has a beginning. Are you an alien, a high-tech wonder, or a genetically altered mutant? Create your own one-of-a-kind costume, craft your origin story, and build out your unique superpowers to become the hero this city needs.

EXPLORE SOUTH PARK AT NIGHT
Not only has South Park grown with new places to explore and new characters to discover, but when the sun sets, havoc and chaos reign as the seedy underbelly of South Park comes alive. At night, a whole new world opens up where your alter ego can harness its powers to do whatever it takes to save the town.

COON AND FRIENDS, ASSEMBLE!
Recruit up to 13 members of Coon and Friends to your cause, including Mysterion, The Human Kite, and the infamous Coon himself. Combine your special powers with the heroes from Coon and Friends to eliminate anyone that gets in your way and defeat the dark power that has spread its evil tentacles over South Park.

AN OUTRAGEOUS RPG ADVENTURE
An all-new dynamic combat system offers new opportunities to manipulate time and space on the battlefield, and a revamped looting and crafting system gives you the freedom to develop and refine your powers as you progress through the game. Find loot hidden throughout the land and follow recipes to craft your own outrageous equipment to aid you in battle.

AUTHENTIC SOUTH PARK
This highly anticipated sequel features more than twice as much content as South Park: The Stick of Truth. Created, written, voiced, and directed by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, South Park: The Fractured But Whole is authentic, interactive South Park at its finest – hilarious, outrageous, and a whole lot of fun. Everything is bigger, longer, and goes deeper than before. Come on down to South Park and have yourself a time.

And this one will actually have DLC!

Some FAQs

Q. This is related to Stick of Truth?
A. It's a sequel, but you don't have to have played the original.

Q. I'm not up on my South Park. What episodes should I watch before playing this?
A. Definitely watch the Coon episodes ("The Coon" in season 13, and "Coon 2: Hindsight", "Mysterion Rises", and "Coon vs. Coon & Friends" from season 14). You should also watch parts of season 19, since they tie in heavily - especially "The City Part of Town", "Tweek x Craig", "Naughty Ninjas", and "Stunning and Brave". And finally, this season's "Franchise Prequel".

Thank you for listing all the episodes to watch that are related to this game.

Also, I found this pretty funny when you try to skip the opening cutscene:

Ahaha, nice

You also get a nice little easter egg if you already know the password to the Coon Lair and enter it without getting it in-game.

I haven't gotten too far yet, but I want to know if there's some way to walk around in regular clothes. Maybe as an unlockable later on or something? I really like the secret identity look and style of my New Kid.

Just because Liquor's dead, doesn't mean you can just roll this bitch all over town with "The Freedoms."
Does this game have a bunch of incomprehensible quicktime events like the first one where it wasn't clear what you were supposed to be doing? The memory that stuck with me the most from the first game was accidentally ripping Randy's balls off with a suction tube about 30 times because I couldn't make any sense of the button prompts on the screen. Eventually did it correctly entirely by accident but it would be nice if that sort of thing wasn't in this one.

I have not been able to fully load the game yet. First I was having an issue with the menus loading almost off-screen which was fixed by updating my GPU drivers, but now when I get to the start screen I get a black screen with the music playing. The fixes I found on Steam/other places have not worked.

The coon episodes were some of the worst episodes and "jokes about superhero movies" feels like it got old years ago and southpark is a pretty bad show now but the first game was good so maybe this will be good too?

If you don't think the coon episodes were good then you shouldn't watch South Park or even play this game.

I hadn't watched South Park in years but still liked the heck out of the first game, so I'm hoping the same will run true for the second. Think I'll wait for a patch though.

The Coon episodes were somehow perfectly South Park cause the truth lies in the middle. The Coon episodes were great except for the Cthulhu parts where it was awful.

Game is really fun so far and running smoothly. Besides that one time start up issue, I haven't had any problems. It works fine with the steam controller. If you have Twitch Prime you can get some extra free crafting stuff and currency. Also some outfit.

I would think so, I'm not sure who you would contact for it. Are you sure you got the correct platform?

I mean worse to worse you're not losing much. You can also see if someone can claim a code for you, who doesn't have the game and use that (if it's possible).

The show can still be really funny at times, because Trey Parker is still a great writer, I just think the show's been getting weaker because Parker and Stone are older and probably fed up with doing it. So now we get long, unfunny story arcs that are well written but don't make you laugh, punctuated by brilliant parts like the Yelper Special song and Gerald Brofslowski getting peed on to hide his internet trolling.

I don't have the money right now to get the game, but I'm assuming it's going to be as funny as the last game was. The last game was being worked on during another lull in the show (the Black Friday multi-parter), and it was funnier than the show was at the time.

I really think Matt & Trey need to go back and rewatch the show from the beginning so they can see why it was so great. It really amounts to kids getting up to and over their heads in adult situations that they don't really understand. Now the kids are basically adults and a lot of the humor is gone now.

You'll never see them confused about a used tampon any more. Or having never seen a porno or even knowing about one. Now they pretend to be trans or make extended take music videos to stop bullying. It's way too based on whatever is going on than just about stories.

Nope.

Also why do people keep asking this? I mean I love some of Obsidian's games (or just one really, Fallout New Vegas), but I've seen people say they refuse to play this new game because Obsidian didn't make it. It doesn't matter, it's the same engine, it's a lot of the same assets except for new ones probably designed by Parker and Stone, other than the combat system it plays the same, and Trey Parker and Matt Stone are the writers, directors and general creative team still.

Since your Google is broken (just kidding), no, it's not.

Also it just finished downloading! Hooray!

What I really liked about the first game is that it was funny in ways that South Park the show hasn't been funny in years. The whole "now they just act like adults" complaint is 100% OTM, though I still like some episodes (And I did think the season before the current one was great)

Just curious. The first one was by Obsidian so I wondered if they were involved. Can't imagine why people might be curious if a sequel to a game by a developer they like is being made by the same team.
