Hep C was the official unofficial rumour. But it's loving Aleksander, he probably has black death or Russian super aids. That's a thing, right?

Boils are staph and/or other bacteria infecting hair follicles, aka what Kevin lee had on his chest from shaving his pecs.

I just asked a doctor-

A staph infection can be in the skin, and it can spread to the blood. If it's at the "boil" stage it's probably not in the blood. If it becomes bacteremic, i.e. gets into the blood) it's likely that he'd be way way way too hosed up to fight, being septic and all.

Also a shower is exactly how to remove another person's dermal flora after close athletic contact - emulsify all of those oils and rinse em away with the kooties in there. Regular soap is good, but in a case like this, in which skin-to-skin staph exposure is confirmed and damaged skin is almost certain, chlorhexedine is probably the way to go.

We could argue about who understands the medical details of staph all day, but ultimately it would still be stupid of the NSAC not to do anything about this, just because Lee blatantly committed perjury on a form of theirs and admitted to it publicly immediately after and letting that slide would be a bad precedent.

Exactly.

Also UFC medical probably knew. He hid it from the AC. The UFC had some sort of idea because they were telling DC to shut up about it.

I assure you that you can

The NSAC medic noted that Kevin was tachycardic, but his blood pressure was pretty normal. If the elevated heart rate was due to severe dehydration, usually you see a compensatory response with massive amounts of catecholamines (ie adrenaline/noradrenaline) so you can get an insane heart rate and relatively normal blood pressure because the body is constricting peripheral circulation. You can't really delineate a sweaty guy with a messed up heart rate because he has a bad infection from one that has hypertiramisic dehydration, especially if you have no reason to suspect infection. But on the balance of probabilities he was just dehydrated and since he didn't look faint and an nsac doctor's job is to make the nsac money without anyone dying they didn't do anything massively wrong or negligent letting him squeeze out an extra lb.

He had a bump on his chest covered in makeup and was dehydrated. If the blogosphere cries about this particular case enough all that happens is they call Kevin Lee in for a hearing because he made them look bad and gets a time served suspension and his pay cheque takes a haircut. Anyway I'm going back to the gym. Later

I feel like "reckless endangerment" might be a real-life crime

But to be honest I'd rather see the UFC punished than Kevin, since Dana going after fighters who drop for medical reasons could constitute creating an unsafe work environment.

its better not to blame the fighter here cos theres a lot of pressure to show up and do your job when you can lose it at any time for any reason. they should have caught it during the medical check or then whats the point in having them

The best-case (see: funniest) scenario is that we get a fightpass broadcast NSAC meeting (which they don't do anymore :smith:) in which Kevin Lee cites on record what Dana did to Amanda Nunes and others as the reason that he didn't withdraw or disclose.

If by some miracle Jones gets a slap on the wrist, Dana 'owes him a fight'

quote:

The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has yet to decide on the fate of Jon Jones’ fighting career. After his second PED-related drug test failure that happened at UFC 214 last July, the former UFC light heavyweight champion is facing a possible four-year suspension.

But if by some chance USADA gives him a mere slap in the wrist, Dana White says he would still need to honor Jones’ UFC contract.

“Legally, USADA would have to handle this thing, and whatever USADA says, he’s gonna have to follow that punishment, because they work hand-in-hand with the athletic commission, whether it’s Nevada, California, or wherever it might be, which is essentially the government,” White told Sports Illustrated’s Maggie Gray. “So the government works with USADA, and they figure out what the ban is gonna be.”

“If it came back that Jon Jones would get a three-month suspension, legally, I owe him a fight. I legally owe him a fight. I have a contract with the guy.”

Fighters like Michael Bisping believe that Jones should be slapped with a lifetime ban for his history of taking performance enhancing drugs. White says he does not disagree, but when asked if the UFC would put in a clause that would break contract obligations if fighters fail drug tests multiple times as Jones did, the UFC president says it can only happen in the most ideal setting.

“In a perfect world, that sounds awesome,” White said. “This isn’t a perfect world.”

Doesn't Dana cancel contracts for pettier reasons than '3 drug pops in as many years'? Maybe Jones has a better contract than the average $10k win/show journeyman but come on, Dana's done better people much dirtier.

He has come home, where he belongs. The Ancient Mariner returns to lead his first team to glory, forever and ever. Amen!

If the notorious Jon Jones doesn't get a fight if his suspension is overturned, I would be shocked. His name recognition will be at an all time high and the UFC will cast him as the heel.

It's because he doesn't want Jones as a free agent fighting for other promotions. From what I've gleaned from the Nick Diaz stuff, the contracts have a clause that the UFC needs to periodically offer fights if the fighter is eligible, or else the contract is void. What this whole thing means is that if Jones becomes eligible again, an offer will come.

Scott Coker doesn't get an erection at the thought of signing Josh Grispi, so Josh Grispi gets the boot. But Dana needs to keep a tighter leash on guys like Jones or even Josh Barnett, who have value as commodities to the competition. The UFC has too much to lose in terms of finance and legitimacy if Jones ends up in Bellator or Rizin - arguably more than they have to lose by keeping him on the roster.
