I did post about it 2 pages back though. Fwiw, everything is hit scan in PvE. Except obviously missile/grenade launchers.

Who else is getting the bug where they can't use their fire key for like 5 seconds after weapon switching? It happens once a round in PVE for me

Gumbel2Gumbel posted:Lmao how the gently caress did no one mention the sniper rifle is projectile and everything else is hit scan. Actually i thought i read they're going to make the other guns projectile as well.

A little disappointing that there wasn't any options to have different sensitivities between the sniper rifles and scoped AR in the new update. Doesn't sound like a terribly complicated fix.

This game is fun and good, although I don't think it would be any less fun if it were less convoluted. I've played PVE for a few hours, read the first post and a few pages of this thread and still don't really know the purpose of most of what I'm doing outside of the quest objectives. Fortunately, the current difficulty doesn't really require me to know everything that is going on. Haven't played BR yet, wanted to get used to the controls and whatnot in PVE first, but I've been watching Grimmmz and it looks like a lot of fun.

I'm slightly brand new and let me share a couple of hints: Every gun is hitscan (instant) except the rocket launcher and sniper in PVP, and Rocket Launcher in PVE. Get that outlander who can smash everything and see treasure. Hitting the target when you're smashing something for materials gives you a critical hit on it and triggers your time limited outlander ability that makes you turn green or purple near good loot containers. And also highlights them through walls! You'll get plenty of materials digging through walls and poo poo to get at this stuff. Prioritize offense upgrades, pickaxe damage, backpack upgrades, Fire Team Alpha Survivors and upgrading them as well. Offense seems to be the most important stat, I noticed a huge difference unlocking an extra survivor slot and putting a legendary survivor into offense. Enemies get tanky really quickly unless you do that. Shoot the bee guys and always put a top on your defense objective because those skull lobbers will rain fire on the target if you're not paying attention or 2/4 people decide to material farm while you're out

Also shotguns rule in this game and do great headshot damage. Snipers aren't useless if you're pinging bee guys, pitchers, and skull ladies constantly.

I disagree about the shotguns, most of them are too slow and wide-spread to be really effective unless you're right in the middle of a big pack. The Tigerjaw/Room Sweeper are good for smashers though. While a Pathfinder or Recon Scout are good for farming, they're not great for combat. I like Scorch for ninjas because he has a very strong dragon slash that can clear big groups and he's good at kiting husks. I haven't played a bad soldier subclass yet, but I like the ones that can get the bonus vulnerability (I think the centurion and special forces can get up to 45%, which helps enormously). But for the first couple areas you can pretty much use whoever you want. It took me ages to get a purple recon scout but it didn't really hinder my progress much.

I have a purple Power 27 Bearcat though. Weaker enemies go down in one hit, those bigger guys go down in 2-3.

This is my go-to weapon for clearing out waves of husks: Once it's level 25 it'll do energy damage, which is just wonderful for helping keep it a solid general purpose husk killer. I got marine corpse Ramirez from a llama but still use my urban assault headhunter who gets a 25% rof increase for 5 seconds when she lands a headshot. Even without that bonus in play a Tigerjaw just rips through groups of husks though. Other situational weapons include a legendary dam buster (rocket launcher), deathstalker scoped AR, and a triple tap sniper rifle that I don't really use because the deathstalker is fantastic.

I really like the shotgun hybrids, like the hydra or the shredder. The shredder especially is great at picking off lobbers at a distance without having to worry about getting jumped up close. What I found when I got to late Plankerton was that if I needed to take out a crowd, I was better off using shockwave (just got buffed) or a grenade, and if I needed to cut down a big guy fast, I wanted something full-auto to get the Vulnerability stacks up right away, or a hybrid so I could make sure the maximum number of pellets went into his face. Your mileage may vary, especially if you're playing a constructor and just need something to get husks out of your face while you repair.

Shotguns have the problem of not having as many bonuses to stack as pistols or assault rifles, while not being able to do long ranged combat better like the snipers. Unless you got the raider from the horde bash event anyway. And even then special forces or urban assault will probably serve you better. Also since it keeps coming up, if anyone is really hard up for N&B I'll trade you my 2: your 1 for herbs or 3:1 for bacon. Also leveling traps is good. Just level the right traps.

Shotgun only gets +10% damage on headshots, so just going for center mass is best with them. Shredder Sniper Rifle falls under Sniper Rifles so ignores this (iirc sniper rifle is 50 or 75% headshot bonus). I don't use shotguns ever, there's like 2 different good ones though, but really only for Chargers. Especially later on where random Charger waves can pop up, which shits out like 15-30 Chargers over a minute. I believe the Backbreaker is really good and Room Sweeper(?). From what I've heard anyway.

They've made sniping really rewarding in the battle royale mode. I actually love the exaggerated bullet drop and low bullet speed, it makes those 1 hit kills on moving targets at 300 meters feel amazing I kinda wish they'd dial down the RNG spread and put the same bullet speed mechanics into every other weapon in the game, but maybe server/balance issues would arise because of that

Use decoy to ball things up for rockets/grenades or to pull smashers off of walls and stuff. There's better choices though. In any case, it's not going to matter a bunch until you get to mid/late plankerton. If you haven't seen this yet it's a pretty good reference: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1iWt-LgADVmRdQnS9OomDFqjqXQT7wyyPA1unctnaPHM/htmlview?usp=sharing&sle=true Anything labeled 4 or higher is ok to good to invest xp in if it's purple or orange if you don't have a top tier hero. Otherwise, it's probably best find a dragon ninja or blue rarity soldier with grenades at level 10 or lower to retire later to get the xp back. Bonus points if the soldier has both goin' commando and grenades.

Yes, not at this moment but they add opposite sex/different "characters" with the same abilities with every event so far. I.e. Jason from friday the 13th as Kyle. As for the controller Constructor: I like them for the more run and gun ish missions like Retrieve the Data, where a huge B.A.S.E. isn't "required" and adds some extra firepower while sticking with the constructor class.

The collection book entry should help clear up all confusion. You can inspect all the Penny entries and see if she ever gets Decoy. They seem to be good with the titles but I'm sure there are some inconsistencies.

That helps a lot. I've got heroes to target (and it looks like I got really fuckin' lucky with some drops btw) since I have everything you guys recommended. I've got an epic AC shock specialist and an Epic Sentinel Hype too which dropped from the same llama. One thing that's confusing still is the survivor squads. When I look at the squads screen it says +81 for offense, when I go into Fire Team Alpha it says +105 offense on the left side of the screen, but 86 offense on the top of the screen? Go in to every hero, schematic, and survivor you have that you don't have plans to get rid of in the near/long term future and favorite them if you haven't. That'll ensure you can't retire/recycle/collection book something by accident.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cO4DBQqFeSM -Fortnightmares is staying until November 29th -Working on ways to narrow your weapon rolls that you actually want. No more details than that other than they're talking about how to do it -They added more affixes to weapons/traps to get more different, viable builds -Working on cleaning up inventory clutter. -They experimented with downgrading crafting weapons. I.e. if you upgrade your Silver weapon to Malachite, but don't actually have access to it, or want to help a lower friend out, you'd be able to downgrade crafting. They weren't happy with how it worked though, so they're trying to get another go at it maybe soon/later. -Chests not showing the correct chest level is a more elaborate bug than they thought. They first thought it was purely visual, but sometimes you'd get the wrong loot still. -Upside: They have a fix. But they need to make sure there aren't any bugs before they're going to roll out for everyone.
