MLBTR has their top 50 FA list out with guesses on teams and contract lengths. Go there for the full writeup but here's what they have so far. Contract predictions are in years/millions of dollars. A lot of them will be very wrong! (Note: Shohei Otani is listed after the top 50 as a special case due to the posting rules and limitations on signing Otani.) 1-10 Yu Darvish - Cubs, 6/160 J.D. Yeah that's wrong. There's no way the crew will take Arrieta. Walker would be cool to have him come back though.

I also just don't see the Cubs making such a big splash on Darvish considering Theo's comments and the upcoming 2018 FA they clearly have eyes on. Dropping ~$15m AAV on the pen with Reed and McGee would be nice though I must admit.

I think the argument for Arrieta getting 4 comes from the facts that this was clearly his worst full year as a Cub (going from 5.3 WAR to 8.7 to 3.4 and now 1.9), his IP dropped from 197 to 168 despite only 1 fewer game played because he pitched an average of one fewer inning per start since 2016, his WHIP is climbing back up to his pre-Cub numbers and he gave up a career-high home run total. I don't think the market is there for the kind of deal Boras is going to want for a guy who might just be turning back into a pumpkin and I wouldn't be surprised if Jake declines some 4 year deals (even if they have opt-outs after 1 or 2 years) early on in FA before taking something similar to this in early or mid January when nobody wants to invest 5/120 or 6/145 or whatever in Jake. Tanaka will get more than 5/100 if he opts out. He'd be the best starter on the market.

It sounds like Yu Darvish was tipping his pitches and that's why the Astros lit him up the way they did in G3/G7. http://www.businessinsider.com/yu-darvish-tipping-pitches-world-series-loss-2017-11 Looks pretty convincing that he was and I'm sure the Astros (Probably Beltran since the players were so keen on calling him the reason they won) picked up on that. In the least surprising news of all time, the Astros are going to pick up the options for Jose Altuve and Marwin Gonzalez. Altuve's 2018 option is $6 million Marwin's is $5.125 million. I really hope the Astros tear up that drat contract for Altuve and sign him up to a long term deal this offseason that pays him what he is worth (the answer is infinity dollars).
