One thing I hope XC2 does is actually use all the good music composed for the game. XCX had a ton of great stuff on its soundtrack but *drum hits* *guitar riff* 'uh uh oooOOOooowoo'

People have been surveyed if they would rather get paid 10 bucks for work while someone else get 5 for free, or they get paid 5 bucks but the other person gets nothing. Despite there being no personal benefit for choosing 5 dollars over 10, many people would take less money just to spite the person that isn't working. People like lording their wealth over those that have less. The "fun" of monopoly comes from either being the person that gets rich or plotting to takedown the rich and usurp them.

I wonder if that question being surveyed in other countries and cultures would have different results. I hope a Fortune Street comes to Switch and gets localized. Game seemed interesting from the bit I played on Wii.

The more I earn about XC2's battle system, the more worried I get. It seems to be less character-interactive than XC's well-executed and utterly fun system of hate-grabbing, buffs & debuffs, chain combos and such. I get the feeling it's more like XCX's battles that were pretty but not anywhere near as much fun. So much of XCX was just button mashing without worrying too much about other characters were up to. Though I'm sorely tempted, I'm not preordering my usual physical copy. I'll see where prices settle and go from there--XCX can be had brand new for around 14 bucks on amazon japan.

I really did like the exploration aspect of XCX, and messing around with mining/research probes was weirdly engaging. That was probably one of the best uses for the gamepad I saw on the Wii U. It fell short in so many other ways though, it really needed to actually be an MMO or be a more tightly focused single player game.

Yes, ironically the original version of the game was designed by a woman as a socialist educational tool to teach people about rentier capitalism. Then some dude jacked her work and sold it to Parker Brothers for beaucoup bucks

I just didn't like the auto pilot real time button mashy combat so I'd that's just Xenoblade's thing I'll have to skip 2 even if it looks gorgeous.

Its not mashy its managing a skill bar with cooldowns and hoping the ai follows up your move with something complementary so you didnt waste it.

Even if Xenoblade 2 had combat that wasn't exorbitantly lovely, I still wouldn't get it 'cause I don't want the person who designed these characters to ever get a cent from me

The hoping makes it feel awful mashy though. Give me control of my party. I get that it's just a preference, but I'll take FF/ bravely/ octopath style combat over XcX style 10 times out of 10. Secret of Mana was just OK for this but that's because it wasn't relying so heavily on move synergy that you couldn't really control.

The weapon/skill system is gacha-ish, but as far as we know it's not a microstransaction system or anything, Blades are just at least somewhat randomized. I feel like the special ones will have corresponding cores or quests or something but idk.

LethalGeek posted:Unlike the left joycon thing it seems to less common but enough that there's an * on the Pro Controller purchase. That said the fix sounds like taking some screws out and shoving a piece of tiny cardboard or something under the plastic of the pad. I tried this out, wasn't pleased. When I applied the amount of tape shown in the images, I would lose about 1 in 10 inputs. If I applied a tiny amount of tape over the contact (1/6th or so?), I no longer lost inputs, but there is this weird dead zone on diagonals. It's most noticeable in something like Shovel Knight where if I'm jumping, changing directions, and pressing down I'll just lose all forward momentum as it's registering only "down" for a moment. Which feels terrible in a platformer like that where you can control yourself in the air. The Pokken controller, which has a godlike d-pad, has no such problems. I'm convinced that many people simply put the tape on and went straight to the controller input test screen or Puyo Puyo Tetris, where it seems fine after the mod. You really need to be moving in diagonals continuously like controlling a platforming character in the air for the deadzone to be noticeable. I ended up taking off all the tape. The pokken controller is nice, but I want a wireless controller with a good d-pad and hd rumble. Maybe the 8bitdo snes Pro controller will have a good d-pad.
