Does the new Wolf have the same feature as the first one, where when you are sneaking up on a nazi BJ starts to breath more excitingly and almost grunting when you are about to stealth kill? Also does anybody else remember the Desperados? It was a western version of Commandos! And for content.. new Cod WWII The Atari Games in HQ

The only game I got from cereal was Chex Quest, and I loved it since I was seven or eight and not allowed the full glory of Doom.

Cereal prices didnt increase because the companies decided to cut costs instead when it turns out parents dont give enough of a poo poo about a toy. Its why in about 30 years its gone from “toy in box sometimes” to “5 proofs of purchase + shipping and handling for a toy” to “not a goddamn thing”.

The toys were almost always hot garbage. Except one cereal that had, like, the first 3rd of Baldur's Gate 2 as it's prize.

It's weird because it lives in 2 fandoms that might not neccesarily cross. People who want a dating sim might not be thrilled at having the rug pulled out from under them, while horror fans who like the games brand of horror basically have to be told up front what this game is, otherwise they wouldn't even bother playing it, since it looks like every other anime game making GBS threads up steam these days. And yet knowing that does undercut the surprise a bit. I wish i coulda gone in being totally blindsided but I'm just not sure how it woulda been possible. Because I kept hearing about it (and it's infamous translation issues) in the RPG thread in Games, I've started playing through the original Wild Arms. I'm enjoying it so far, I like that true to life, Guns are really powerful, but best saved for emergencies, and the intro to Jack's first chapter was hilarious with the boulders and spears chasing him through an increasingly elaborate dungeon. I also like that you can change characters whenever you want, and get prompted to at each chapter break, it feels pretty loose and less linear than it otherwise would be. Pretty fun so far.

Everyone was all teehee coy about the game it was disguised as but we already knew you goddamn clowns.

I think the idea of DDLC keeping it's content a secret would have been loving insane. Just attract an audience that would be pissed off because what you created isn't what they wanted and your actual audience won't even know about it because they won't care about your game. Also some of the actual content of the game is 100% not ok to inflict on someone completely blind.

Wild Arms 2 is actually the one especially infamous for its translation, the original's not quite as bad. The best part about that last one is the fact that the original had the anime "vein-pop" thing meant to signify someone being pissed off like the one in the corner here: So not only did they make the highly questionable decision of using an emoticon, but they also managed to convey the completely wrong emotion with it.

By the way, Wild Arms 2 uses a mechanic where you have to scan new locations on the world map before they appear on it. Good goddamn luck figuring out where they are as you fight random encounters and the games poor translation giving you in some cases literally wrong hints.

No but maybe suddenly taking a hard left turn from bright and cheery anime game to "here's a swinging corpse" without any forewarning at all is probably a bit a bit too much? At least tell someone "btw this is a horror game just so y'know".

What one considers scary and disturbing varies massively, while you say "there's nothing in the game that shocked me or was even mildly upsetting", other people have had the exact opposite reaction and said that it got to them in a way almost nothing else has. You're making a weird argument here.

That's like saying Wolfenstein is coma porn because a character in a coma kicks off the plot. Like, I get it, the game's far from perfect and isn't for everyone so I'm with you if you didn't like it but that's the worst take.

I figured you were implying the content warning is unnecessary and anyone can play it blind because it's actually not scary at all, considering the post you originally replied to. In any case that'll happen with anything that gets a lot of hype yet isn't for everyone, it was always going to be one of those things that was best experienced back when it was fresh and unhyped.

It's pretty half-baked y'all. It's a clever demo but it really needed to be fleshed out. It doesn't come together in an interesting way at all. Bad pacing, loosely sketched characters, themes not matched by gameplay, a "meta" narrative that seems like its commenting on a different game. Basically what the game wants to do isn't backed up by what it actually does.

More DDLC stuff: The whole Just Monika thing fell super flat for me because she openly admits to using her friends mental illnesses as weapons and causing them to commit suicide, which is loving atrocious from a Monika standpoint, and exploitative and lovely from a writing standpoint. Everyone praises the writing for having realistic portrayals of mental illness, but in the end it's just a tool for the main goal of having them kill themselves and make the player sad. So not only do I hate Monika but now the writing's got me hacked off too. Also why did Monika cranking depression to 100 make peoples eyes bleed pixelated blood and do other creepypasta stuff? The more I think about DDLC the more annoyed I get. Maybe I read the whole thing wrong since I never really see anyone echoing the same sentiments, but ugh.
