Makes sense.

Also makes sense. It hit me that we all knew about José Fernández "immediately" because it happened in the middle of the night so there was no waiting around for confirmation by the time we woke up. This is terrible news, and it's giving me flashbacks.

That one was a kick in the gut. Not that any of the other MLB lives that have been lost aren't (Halladay, if he's dead, hurts too), but the dude was only 24 and had Hall of Fame talent. :smith: gently caress this gay earth sometimes.

Not looking good. If he loved the plane that much he'd at least have to be on it, you'd think.

Yeah with how excited he was about this plane, and the fact that he's only had it for like 3 weeks, I can't envision any scenario where he just lets someone else take it out without him. :(

It may not be but I would guess he would tell people if he was alive. Pilots share and rent personal planes a lot to defray the massive cost.

It's not the craziest thing if someone else was on the plane he is off fishing somewhere and we will all just have to deal with some random person being dead instead of Roy Halladay

Yeah, a HARD kick in the gut. People in SAS were super nice to me about how hosed up I was over it though, which is a weirdly bittersweet memory :smith:

About 10 years ago, I met a guy who had met Halladay once or twice through a friend. He ended up with some kind of cancer, word got to Doc somehow, and Doc quietly paid for the dude's treatment. The guy wouldn't stop gushing about how great a guy Doc was.
