drat Roy Halladay always sounded like a nice rear end dude and I liked watching him pitch, which is obviously most important.

Doc Has to be the front runner for "best pitcher of the mid 2000s" right?

Put Halladay in the Hall of Fame right now Two Cy Youngs, one in each league A perfect game and a postseason no-hitter in the same season A workhorse in the real old school sense, 220 innings or more in 8 of 16 seasons One of the great comeback stories in that he was about to wash out but he reinvented himself and became one of the great aces in the league during a high offensive period An 8-time All-Star in lean years for Toronto Bridged the gap between Pedro and Kershaw Tons of anecdotes about how he's a great person Goddamn it this is terrible but he deserves immortal recognition

I can't think of a pitcher I wanted the Yankees to face less as a Yankee fan than Halladay. He owned them.

He never made me happier than when he lost in Game 5 in 2011, but he seemed like he was an awesome guy and was undisputedly one of the best of his era. It’s incredibly sad that he passed so early, I assume they waive any remaining waiting period on voting for him in the Hall (one more year?).

Always sucks to see good pitchers get their final low strike. Edit: Halladay got elected to my OOTP HoF earlier this week and I'd like to see him in the real one too.

It gets waived down to six months after the death, not immediate. The rule was changed to "immediate" after Clemente died, and then later amended. August 5, 1973: Rule amended to allow consideration after six months has passed or after five years have passed, whichever comes first. Out of context of "six months after death or five years after retirement," this is a really humorous rule. "Six months or five years, whichever comes first"
