It's probably whatever project Wiz was slated to be head of before Stellaris's launch got him slotted in there instead. I remember him tweeting about that during stellaris dev. It's probable that Paradox is excerting more internal control in general. Wiz hasn't mentioned his dating sim for a while. Demiurge4 fucked around with this message at 15:24 on Nov 14, 2017 |

Remember that a while back PDX was going to try to make a Viking-style rpg and that got cancelled so it's entirely possible that it's not a known IP and one of their attempts to branch out that's gone. e: what the hell was I writing I meant Runemaster Alchenar fucked around with this message at 22:32 on Nov 14, 2017 |

The canceled project was in fact "Spiritual Successor", which would have combined ck's ruler succession system with a Pokemon-style ghost hunting game where you try to capture the spirits of responsible, level headed people and then marry them, ensuring that your estate is in good hands when you pass from this realm.

I´ve actually sometimes wondered about Paradox doing a horse breeding game, because 1) people that like horses are insane about them 2) there was a lot of stuff around it and it would be a cool look into history and whatnot and 3) horses are neat

There hasn't really been a clear direction for the upcoming DLC based on the Dev Diaries so far, just QoL fixes/some changes to game systems like Chain of Command, Decisions etc. I'm hoping this suggests a focus on improving the Asia-Pacific theatre edit: I really hope that's the case, because HoI4 needs a big ticket item to put up there. Otherwise it feels like they'll just be spinning their wheels. The Narrator fucked around with this message at 04:52 on Nov 15, 2017 |

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2017/11/17/jon-shafer-leaves-paradox/quote:Jon Shafer, the lead designer of Firaxis’s Civilization V and his own strategy game At the Gates, is gone from strategy specialists Paradox only six months after joining. Paradox say neither that he ditched the company nor that they fired him, rather that they have all “decided to part ways due to creative differences.” How enigmatic! We didn’t even know what he was working on. Righto! e: Bah, beaten. I think one of these days I'm going to want to read a Jon Shafer autobiography. In a decade, maybe. What does his career in games look like through his eyes?

In some paradox games the AI isn't absolutely braindead and can actually use the same military system the player uses to the same advantages, not always as competently and can be tricked and gamed, but you still feel like the AI understands the basics. This was probably a deal breaker for Shafer.

I was on the fence about investing in Paradox but this has decided me in favour. Not because I've got anything in particular against Jon Shafer but because it means the company is still decisive enough even post-listing to take on a well known developer and then part ways fast if it isn't working out.
