roll it back uninstall firefox 57
install firefox 52 esr 32-bit (for maximum compatibility) https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/

about :config in address bar
xpinstall.signatures.required false
xpinstall.whitelist.required false

go to the firefox addons page and follow the links under More for disabled addons with no enable button to get to the install links in a new tab. then click remove in the add-on page and proceed to reinstall them. if theres a simple way to just get the enable button that would be better because you wouldnt lose the settings for each addon you handle this way

upgrading to 57 is a clusterfuck and still no noscript support. wait the upgrade out a months. by then every addon that is going to upgrade will have upgraded. or wait for xenforo on sa because salr wont update until that is done

also make a backup of your profile before the next time you consider upgrading

going to 57 and back wiped my firefox history. which was several years long because i like being able to type in some half-remembered thing and instantly get it back (redundant urls and generic things like search query urls were cleaned by another process so the history was probably more compact than yours)

and i cant get middle-clicked bookmarks or links from the firefox recent menu to load as an independent (not child) tab in tree style tabs again for the life of me

so upgrading to a new and shittily supported version because "faster!" according to some idiot gbs thread: great success

If you've upgraded to 57 I'm pretty sure the lowest you can go is 55 because that's when the profile format changed, which means no backwards compatibility. Because Mozilla are a bag of dicks, the latest Extended Support Release version is 52, and so if you like your addons and upgraded to 55 your options are either use a version that receives no patches for exploits or then install 52 ESR and lose a lot of stuff like browsing history and such

counter point: if you're enough of a sperg to have noscript as a prerequisite for browsing just use umatrix, which has a version that works on 57. as far as i can see it fulfils the same function as noscript except with far more control?

57 is such a dramatic improvement in the general experience of using firefox that i would encourage anyone to upgrade. unless your entire life depends on SALR

This is correct. UMatrix is superior to noscript in virtually every way, and that includes computer resource usage.

So I understand the idea of NoScript and it sounds good in theory, but whenever I visit a new site I always have to spend 5 minutes loving with it to get the page to load because absolutely nothing on the internet works without some kind of script bullshit now. Oh well, I hope China is having a good time selling all my personal info to Uzbekistan

it takes a few seconds per site which is a lot of sites when you first get started but later on you realize you only visit new sites pretty rarely

i already have a raspberry pi 0 running pihole, a raspberry pi 3 managing torrents and nnts downloads, and another raspberry pi doing nothing because it turns out i dont really need a 3rd thing
separating the tasks by machine made qos management a lot easier on the router

like i said noscript is by far not the only thing i want

Sounds pretty sweet, friend Gaunab. SALR works pretty well on my Ono-Sendai Cyberspace 7 but I've been thinking of upgrading to an Aleph. I've heard it's got real heat for punching the grid.
My girl Molly said she was gonna bring me back one as a gift when she gets back from her work trip to the Maas Biolabs archology. Hope SALR works well on it.

What's the workflow with noscript btw ?
You go to a site, poo poo's all hosed, so you manually decide whether to enable jquery-2.11.bitcoin.js or ga-5466313198.js or backgroundmusic.js ?

I have a PI. Had it for 2 years about. Besides setting it up, booting it and going "hey it works", I have done absolutely zilch with it. I looked at Youtube through it I think, once. I also have a PINE 64 unit, which I got on a Kickstarter. I haven't even assembled that and it's like 10 months since I got it. Not much assembly, just putting the pieces in place and connecting the screen and poo poo, but. I honestly haven't been bothered since I don't have a clue what to do with it. Just got it on a whim. What do you DO with these things? Hmmm... would this be a good thread? What to do with these PI / PINE and whatever units us nincompoops have got, but don't know what to do with?
