Every reasonable programming pattern requires a top-to-bottom re-write. No. They are looking for green field projects where they can properly express themselves, work freely, and get into that creative flow state that I often liken to "surfing the tube." The real issue is that the evidence (or rather, the lack of evidence) about Star Citizen as promised, when compared with CIG's feature velocity is now impossible to ignore. No hype can withstand CIG's clear and unflappable inability to deliver on a single public commitment they've made (with one exception to my knowledge. The 3.0 cargo loop is looking pretty exciting. Has my wife and I psyched to get playing. We have a system all worked out. She'll pack and help carry the cargo out to the spaceship and I'll be in charge of all loading.

Even if assuming that Toops’ earlier brutal diagnosis of the terminal state of their codebase weren’t an issue, what the Cargo loop demonstrates now and the 2.x gameplay loop Batgirl previously demonstrated in 2016 is that CIG seems fiercely committed to designing a punishingly fun-free slogathon that players must endure rather than enjoy. Whatever Elite’s sins, and it has more than a few, there is fun to be had in its space sim, much of it thanks to the satisfactions of the core experience — that being space flight and combat. The ships are a true thrill to fly with a satisfying skill curve that rewards the player’s investment in efforts at mastery. CIG’s vision of the player experience — one that denies them the joys of space flight AND subjects them to thrice the chorework of Elite to achieve similarly busyworked ends with even more “fidelity” — is yet another hurdle they’d have to overcome in the event they ever did escape their twin prisons of codebase and network. I don't think CIG reached out to her, I think she went after CIG and got herself a new guest for her channel. Gut feeling.
