how did that become a racing series like did it slowly evolve or emerge as one insane thing that people were down to do?

I just discovered the super trucks this weekend too. It's insane, it's like they devised a racing series on the premise that NASCAR fans were getting desensitized to crashes so we need something more fun but it's actually good? They're like full sized R/C cars! Running knobby tires with enough traction to lift the inside tire 18" off the ground while constantly locking up and blowing corners with 20 foot jumps is just insane. And they do a mid-race caution to stack the field back up on purpose, it's ridiculous. And every single race like a third of the field says gently caress the grounds keepers and just plows through gravel or grass.

Pretty much that. They're also known to do some two wheeled stunting on the cooldown laps after the race too. It's a riot in person.

Somehow I doubt Sir Jack expected his grandson to be doing this, but I also can't imagine he would've been unhappy with it.

Imagine if these things had reaction control thrusters and were steered with a little yoke in the cockpit? Depending on the bravery of the driver, they'd either use it to maintain their horizon or do sick rolls.

I feel like we need to take a minute to appreciate just how loving incredible the suspension is on these things, the front end took the brunt of that hit and it only bounced a tiny bit on rebound. That's straight up nuts.

Not disagreeing with that. And yeah, buddy routines help keep the material from drying out the whole skit. If its like you and a buddy farting about in the garage, its more fun to watch.

CarForumPoster posted:Are later mustangs really that hard to drive? I've only driven my friends foxbody and sliding it was a breeze...foot down, point front, continue with foot down until straight again. They're not hard to drive, but both of the Mustangs I've owned(99 and 11 GT) have experienced unpredictable snap oversteer a couple of times. Both were lowered if that matters. In my case it was cold tires both times, and when it let go, it was sudden and there was 0 traction at the rear, absolutely nothing you could do. I don't know how the guys in the car show videos lose it while lighting up the tires for a 100 yards, but it can happen. I don't think there's anything about the Mustang that makes it more prone to this than any other car. It happened to me for the in my 2011 a few weeks ago for the first time. I just touched the gas while turning into a parking lot, and the rear snapped out instantly and the car was turned probably 60 degrees with the front wheels at full lock. Advancetrac never flashed or turned on, usually it'll catch anything very quickly.

Really good Roadkill too, even though nothing goes wrong other than getting beaten by a minivan by 3 seconds. I just had a stupid grin on my face for 30 minutes.

This is easily my favorite Roadkill car. A while ago I posted few bits about the Baja SC/Rambler and, while digging for a lot of those images, I stumbled on a forum where a guy who help build a lot of these cars was talking about his experiences and the various teams running them through the years. The Hornet is just a Rambler with a face-lift so it's extra cool to me that the Roadkill car might be linked to that. Fin & Fry briefly touch on the car having history, too, but i'd like to know more.
