It's 2017 now though and no one cares if you're gay unless you use coming out as an excuse for your sexual abuse

And back then you shoved that poo poo back further than the Christmas ornaments on December 26th.

Sure he should absolutely not come out if he doesn't want to. It was really lovely the way the media treated Jodie Foster for not coming out in her Golden globe speech.

Plus, I don't know how much of John's family and siblings if he has any who are alive, but maybe his concern at this point is not what the public thinks so much as what they would think. Anybody who has ever struggled with sexuality or knows someone who has is probably aware of the anxiety coming out to family causes. On top of that, he'd possibly face a lot of judgment for not being honest with his kids. I know his autistic son passed away, which was really loving sad. Supposedly had him considering leaving COS since they wouldn't let the kid get treatment for Kawasaki disease. But he has 2 other kids, one of whom I think is a teenager now. Michael Stipe faced a lot of scrutiny for not coming out sooner, too.

https://twitter.com/anopensecret/status/938961458636959745 I'm very curious to see what this is regarding. Also, if you've never heard of An Open Secret before, it's a documentary about sexual assault in Hollywood, and part of it features Bryan Singer and David Geffen, who are definitely at the end of their ropes (in fact, it wouldn't surprise me if this tweet were about Geffen, given his proximity to Singer and the suit brought against Singer today). It got limited distribution a few years ago but it never got a real release, but they put it up on Vimeo for free for a week or so after the Weinstein allegations came out.

An Open Secret was actually a YTotD/Vimeo of the day a while back. It doesn't go into any of the details about Michael Egan's lawsuit against Singer because during the film production Egan actually requested it be withdrawn after Singer and his lawyers planned to counter-sue. Michael Egan is interviewed in the film, however. Moreover, though, the film gets into detail about Singer's periodic professional connections to not just individuals, but organizations that indulged the sexual predation of minors. https://vimeo.com/142444429 As this Singer stuff breaks keep an ear up for the names Digital Entertainment Network (DEN) and Rawleywood. Michael Egan requested his suit against Singer be withdrawn apparently after the defense found some pretty damning evidence against his allegations. But regardless of the veracity of those allegations, it may have after all just been a mask for what is, if not indisputable, at least very likely from the overwhelming witness testimony that Egan and others present: That under the pretense of producing revolutionary digital TV content with young talent, DEN executives Marc Collins-Rector, Brock Pierce, and Chad Shackley hosted parties in which they not only preyed upon their young and aspiring talent sexually, plying them with drugs and alcohol, but also used them as enticement for older investors.

it should also be pointed out that another man who Egan named in his lawsuit, Gary Goddard, was accused a few weeks ago of molesting Anthony Edwards when he was in his early teens. He's worked with Singer on a number of occasions.

Yeah, there's been blind items about these guys for years and, as I posted before, there's the Relativity Media story. Essentially Singer has really good people working for him and as long as he can keep writing cheques then he can keep getting away with what he wants. Based on his response to this latest story they're already mounting their usual PR blitz of a defence.

These idiots will all duck out to Paris and congregate to the point of having enough people and money to form an exclusively sexual-predator filmmaking community. And some of the films will actually be good, and society will be eternally caught between hating the artist and loving the art.

Super-bummed to hear Ron Perlman slammed John Oliver for the Hoffman interview. Perlman's a pretty liberal dude (and turbo-hates Trump, going by his twitter feed), but I guess it just goes to reinforce the fact that for many people the industry will always get the benefit of the doubt over the innocent victims who get chewed up by it

Watch An Open Secret and hoo boy burn the whole loving thing down. They had to release it online for free and even then nobody until now starting watching it.

I listened to the We Hate Movies podcast on Disclosure and I couldn't help but wonder how some regressive shithead could remake it these days to "strike back" against the "feminazis". I mean, the Death Wish remake looks to be going in that direction. Disclosure: Directed by Bryan Singer, produced by the Weinstein Company.

I happened to be reading the trivia for What about Bob? and found this anecdote about Bill Murray: "Producer Laura Ziskin recalled having a disagreement with Bill Murray which led to her getting tossed into a lake by him. She confirmed in 2003, "Bill also threatened to throw me across the parking lot and then broke my sunglasses and threw them across the parking lot. I was furious and outraged at the time, but having produced a dozen movies, I can safely say it is not common behavior." I'm scared to hear what else he may have done, other than assaulting a producer.

I mean, Charlie Sheen is the king of Hollywood poo poo-bags, but it seemed like a nobody selling a story about a dead old friend for some attention/cash. edit: also a reminder that the top editor for the Inquirer and US Weekly, Dylan Howard, was investigated for sexual harassment at the work place, asking multiple female officemates to watch porn in the office and making other lewd, inappropriate comments at teh workplace. (also he apparently called himself "Dildo" at the office which is something I called my friend Dillon when I was in grade school until he told me exactly what a dildo was.)
