Kit is good in the sense that im a lesbian but I want to have sex with him. He will do fine in romcoms and lady oriented schlock even if he never has another serious role.

A bunch of them just won't be able to make a career for awhile after this, I think. Give them a few years to distance themselves from the show, the spectre of it will loom too much otherwise. Unless they want to keep playing versions of these characters, at least.

The real question is, will D&D ever work again after season 8 and their confederate show?

I mean the writing is godawful, of course, but the show is wildly successful. And I'm not a braindead hollywood exec, and yet even I struggle to pinpoint exactly why Game of Thrones is the runaway success it is, despite the drop in quality. It's obviously not the writing, and as the last few posts have observed, it ain't the acting either since with all the deaths the remaining cast are by and large at best simply 'meh' and at worst are people who really shouldn't be acting. And the CGI quality fluctuates wildly, too. They're going to want to reproduce the success of GOT, but who knows if that means keeping D&D around.

The Sopranos tried to tone both of those down for its last season and they plunged in ratings. Rome had them and actually good writing but HBO was afraid to spend the money they needed. The idea for Confederate is an interesting one, but people get wound up over a modern show about black slavery for some reason. Bunch of SJW crybabies if you ask me!

It bothers me that they dedicated like, the first three episodes worth of Bilquis's screentime to repeated unbirthing scenes. We got the picture of what she does from the first one, guys, even Mr. Gaiman didn't feel the need to show her doing it multiple times. Anyway I like American Gods (the book) and American Gods (the show) a lot. A lot more than this hot garbage HBO is making GBS threads out.

cis autodrag posted:ive never read the book but i watched the show off a rec from a friend. i'm torn on it: Yeah the scene where Wednesday actually announces his identity was really hammy and poorly done. The trouble with the show is that it's not keeping the tone of the book, which makes it struggle to reconcile the new tone with the plot. There have been a lot of changes that don't really add anything, they've just done it to use the flashy sfx budget Starz gave them. poo poo is all sorts of out of order because they're running this effects show. That being said, the fourth(?) episode Git Gone was something that wasn't in the book but was really good and was something I wished the book had given me. It ain't flawless but I'll take it over GoT any day.

AG was seriously my favourite book for like 5 years, and while I'm glad they didn't entirely gently caress it up in the show (haven't watched), I'm not surprised that they hosed with it in any capacity. Pointing out the identities seems realllly dumb, though. Like, it's a decent enough story even if you don't know all the myths involved. Oh, and all the millennials/people who haven't heard of myths going 'WhoooOaaa a vagina that eats dudes woowweewow that's soooo crazy' are tiresome.

The scene right at the end of season 1 where Ostara takes away spring was really loving cool. I also loved the like 900 Jesuses just hanging around her place. Kristen Chenoweth wasn't my idea for the character, but she does well in the role. Yeah, dropping the names and mystery before the House on the Rock carousel is really going to sap the energy from the midbook reveal.

Kristen Chenoweth wasn't my idea for the character, but she does well in the role. yeah, like I said the Easter scene was amazing right up until the Wednesday reveal. also I'm from Wisconsin so the fact that House on the Rock is an Important Place is really doing it for me. it makes total sense too: the guy who built and filled that place had this perverse idea of loving with people's idea of antiquity. there's loads of authentic antiques in there that he had restored and done up to look like they were bought new from a department store, and loads of things he had custom made while he was building the house that were deliberately made to look like real antiques when they're not. it totally fits with the theme of trying to revive this religious piece of antiquity in the modern era. also it's loving bullshit that gillian anderson doesn't get main credits but the other two new gods do. she has way more screen time and is way more enthralling than either of them.
