How easy is absol to 2 man on a cloudy day? I have 5 lv 30 machamp and my kid has 4 of them so far. If it's cloudy we can probably add one more each, or a hariyama, probably at lv 30+

Our machamps were slightly lower leveled and did it with 30 seconds left. We needed 6 machamp, but I think you might be fine if it doesn't have psycho cut as a fast move.

Agreed. Did my first absol raid today because the weather boosted fighting pokemon so it was an easy 2 man and I need that pokedex entry man. It was shiny. Still haven't gotten a shinny magikarp (and they are fairly common here) but got shuppet, duskull and now absol.

I did an Absol raid today with three others and none of us had done it before. After catching we found out that one of them looked different than the others - a shiny! Unfortunately it wasn't mine.

@everyone WEATHER + SPAWNS

As you probably all have noticed, Niantic introduced a new in-game weather mechanic alongside Gen III which can boost the stats (IVs) of certain types of Pokémon depending on the local weather. A 💯 Larvitar can turn into a Wurmple and a 💯 Ralts can become 49% if the weather changes between the time the spawn point was picked up by the scanner and the time it takes you to get there. If this happens, it's not that the scan is "broken" but the new game mechanics in action.

To avoid these IV curve-balls, make sure to check if the mon is likely to be a weather boosted spawn ❄. With weather effects, wild spawns now have a maximum level of 35. So if you see a 30+ mon on the scanner, it is most likely weather-boosted. Also check the time! From initial tests, the in-game weather changes only at the top of the hour (:00). If the scanner picked it up at 7:59 and you arrive anytime past 8:00, the spawn and IVs could change depending on the weather.

The entire dev community is working hard to come up with solutions for this but everyone will have to be patient as we adjust to the new system. Our developer is also currently working on adding weather functionality to the spawn database and we will alert you as soon as that feature is live. 🌞

(P.S. #chicago scans are down temporarily, will be back up as soon as possible...) https://gph.is/1syLEcy

Then several others are whining that they want the birds back or they hope the Xmas event is all the legendaries out at once because they still need all 3/6/perfect ones.

It feels like there's a day lag on weather. It's blue skies today and in game it's cloudy. Yesterday was overcast but in game sunny.

I'm not complaining, it's just weird. I'm catching a decent amount of Ralts at least!

That seems really off.

For me it was "partly" cloudy in the morning when it probably should have just been regular cloudy, but even so it was a nice break from having nonstop Clear for like a week.

If you find a high level sloth in the wild it's worth evolving for the pokedex entry and to have one to put in gyms but it's not worth investing stardust in since it's basically just a snorlax that can only use charge moves.

Can confirm this. I spent around 20 minutes and someone kept remote berrying a Blissey. I needed the points for a gym anyways, because it's a Starbucks and has been known to give out ex passes.

You can fight even a Dazzling Gleam Blissey with one Machamp. If someone is remote berrying it's gonna suck no matter what it is.

I had someone do it to me and whatever. Thanks for the extra gym points.

If that Blissey is in the 3000+ CP range you're gonna be there for a while, that blob can tank for a good hour before the trainer runs out of golden razzies to feed it with

Yeah, I can't think of any pokemon capable of actually winning against a determined attacker (assuming that attacker isn't like level 10 or whatever). Blissey at least makes the battle longer and more painful, which means it's the best pokemon for the only metric that really matters: wasting as much of an attacker's time as possible. I often see people break off an attack after a golden berry because in their mind that 5-minute slog just turned into a 20-minute slog. If they're so dedicated to taking down a gym that they'll waste 20 minutes of their life, then I don't think it was possible to deter them in the first place.

Chanseys are also good if your attacker is lower level. There's a few people in the high 20s running around in my neighborhood, and they seem to spend almost as long on the Chansey as they do on the Blissey. It also loses CP slower, which is nice - a full CP heart on a 900-CP pokemon seems to be a better deterrent than an empty heart on a 3000-CP pokemon.

Slaking is good to pop into a gym right before a raid to solidify gym control, at max CP it can cause serious pain to attackers. After an hour it's kinda worthless though.

When I say car players I mean people slowly driving along in residential areas while spinning stops and throwing balls, occasionally stopping for 5-10 minutes with the engine running to tear down a gym. Traveling by car to meet up with a raid group seems totally ok.

It has play rough, a two bar move. If you focus primarily on dodging every attack (even quick ones) you don't actually need to take much damage before you can use it. The other two charge moves are borderline unusable though.

Agreed with all this. Having a high Chansey is very useful along with the Blissey.

I don't care about car players because they can go ahead and pay up for the amount of gas used in long-term city driving. The thread probably still thinks alt accounts are blasphemous but everyone in my town has at least 1 alt account going.
