Ortwin is his friend! Ortwin is a hero! Ortwin is legendary! All hail Ortwin lolololol!

Dude is a mental case that has turned this into a emotional endeavor where he has bought friends. I legit feel bad for him but that's why he thinks the world's worst lawyer is some kind of legal Dwayne The Rock Johnson who is going to flex so hard the contract explodes in the courtroom.

Erin seems to think they bought out the source code.

The source code to cryengine.

That would be something you talked about, no?

Also no, if you branch infringing code from infringing code, you have infringing code. White room implementations are the preferred method forward.

Because then the Crobbler would have to code his own demo for his Kickstarter pitch.

Crobs come to Cryteck, say he want to make SC
Cryteck say "Ok. If you use our engine we will get you started and make a demo for your pitch"
Cryteck : "Here is what you agree in order for us to make you a demo you can use (GLA)
Crobbler : "Okely Dokely" and then proceed to violate 47 points of the deal.

This is the current rock in a raging river backers are clinging onto for dear life. Semantics on what the engine is and how lumberyard invalidates the entire contract, instantly blowing up the death star.

I'm pretty sure "Lumberyard" is going to solidify as the backer counterpoint to any mention of this particular lawsuit in the future.

Back in June of this year, CIG took out a loan with Coutts & Co, a highly respected banking institution in the U.K. CIG put Squadron 42 up as collateral for the loan, which if it is indeed material that infringed on a copyright, it may significantly devalue it as collateral for said loan. There’s no telling how this loan may be affected, but its something else CIG and RSI will be worrying about in the future.

We have reached out to Cloud Imperium Games, Crytek, and the law firm representing Crytek for more information. If we get any comment or information, we will update this article.

The switch to Lumberyard has nothing to do with an Amazon deal. AWS is not better suited to their MMO ambitions than what they were using previously. And with the amount of hacking done to the original codebase, no significant LY features will ever make it back into StarEngine.

It was a lucky opportunity for CIG to get out paying post-launch royalties to Crytek as part of the original licensing agreement.
