The only reason this commercial is burned into my brain is because it was on during an airing of the Garfield Halloween special in the late 80's, and I drat near wore out that tape with how much I watched it.

I personally prefer food commercials from the 60s or earlier, because they're all very boring cereals and and snacks and whatnot by today's standards, but were kinda revolutionary at the time. Like, maple flavored instant oats were apparently a big deal for getting kids to finally eat a breakfast cereal.

An artsy commercial for a crappy candy bar. I found this (well, not this exact video) on an old VHS tape I had from the 80s. I specifically left in in the program I had taped.

Merry Christmas, pal.

I haven't seen that commercial in years and I still nailed it word for word, except for the "Happy Holidays" in place of "Merry Christmas", which I'm almost positive is correct in some version of that commercial.

There's this youtube with two versions side by side, and it looks like the racial makeup is identical, which I don't know if that's more or less weird. Like the asian woman is replaced by another asian woman, black guy -> black guy, etc. Unless there's another even older version.

...

Comments on some other video make it seem like they kept some / all of the audio from the 1992 version, now that's weird.

So Pentatonix (?) has replaced PurpleMoose (?) for twee annoying xmas ads. Ugh.

But has anyone seen an ad that's a cartoon about a big black family together at christmas and everyone is gathered around the fireplace, wearing sweaters, and fanning themselves? I could swear a black comedian did a bit about that a long time ago, but I haven't seen it since the first time and I want to show it to my mom. Can't think of WHAT they were advertisinh though.
