those awkward two boxes for Wurmple's evolutions though Lotad seems to be extremely rare unless there is rain, when its spawn rate goes up a ton. Relicanth seems to be exclusive to New Zealand of all places.

It gets a second evo in 4th gen https://www.serebii.net/pokedex-sm/478.shtml Torchics and mudkips aplenty around here. Tons of other spawns, too. I probably shouldn't even have bothered with incense. Speaking of incense, has anyone noticed fewer spawns than before while using it? I used to get about a spawn a minute, but the rate seems to have greatly slowed down. I probably only saw 5 or 6 today.

I'm really enjoying catching all the new Pokemon and filling out my pokedex. I'm even filling in the gaps in the first 2 gens with all the new weather effects, I caught a Lickitung which I had never even SEEN before. I hope I get a Wynaut soon, they're one of my faves

Did I do something wrong, or is the incubator you get from spinning pokestops from today 'till christmas only one use? I've been very casual with the game, but i'm pretty sure incubators were 3-use, so this is essentially a single incubator chopped up. How nice of them.

Also, if your first pokestop of the day was before 1pm, you simply don't get the incubator. It doesn't give it to you. At least for today when it was introduced, dunno about tomorrow. I didn't get it and other people on the pokego reddit are reporting they didn't, either.

I ended up teaching an older lady the ring lock trick at raid 2(she whiffed almost every ball in the first one so I figured I'd help her out at the second raid). Gotcha If you already received your daily bonus before they went live then you don't get it today, because you already received your daily bonus. It's silly but it's not complicated. seiferguy posted:What's the ring lock trick? The circle has to be a certain size to trigger an excellent throw and in general the smaller the circle the higher your catch rate. The circle only changes size while you are activating the poke ball AND the pokemon is able to be captured, that is to say not in an attack or jumping animation. So if you hold down and let go on the ball you can see the circle will be the same size from when you let go to when you touch it again. The trick is to hold down on the ball until you get a small enough circle and then let go. Then, you wait for the pokemon to perform an attack/jump animation. During the animation you can touch the ball and charge up a curveball. If you throw the ball at the very end of the animation you can hit it right as the capture window opens back up with an excellent throw because the circle size hasn't changed. Doing this trick allows you to both control the size of the ring and time your throw more easily. You're not in a panic to spin the ball and throw it when the circle gets small because the size is set and you have the attack animation time to wind up. With a bit of practice you should be able to always score at least a great throw on legendaries without worry of the ball being batted away. I'll work on it tomorrow with more spawns I guess. if I can get excellent throws with a big circle it proves it wrong maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean and since I'd always waited for the circle to get small and throw into its center I was doing this anyways. the way I'm reading it is you can let the circle get small but then hit the very edge of the pokemon for an excellent which seems incredibly not true. I think this whole time I've tried to max what I thought were two variables that was only one if I'm interpreting right mastershakeman fucked around with this message at 03:49 on Dec 23, 2017 |

Where you think you were supposed to hit? Did you think it was different for every Pokémon? How have you gone this long playing and not figured out that ring size and hitting within that was what triggered a nice/great/excellent? Edit: Entropist posted:https://twitter.com/NianticHelp/status/944121556053008384?s=17 I guess it's a matter of interpretation; in the official announcement of getting them they say it comes with your streak spin iirc. You do your streak spin before the event went live, you lose out on an incubator. You'll get one when you spin tomorrow . It probably helps that I had people yelling DON'T SPIN TILL ONE in my local Pokémon chat Steve Jorbs posted:So if you hold down and let go on the ball you can see the circle will be the same size from when you let go to when you touch it again. Your advice was correct except don't do it during a jump animation if you're wanting to be safe. They can still attack at the end of their jump in a fraction of a second and I've missed balls because of it(same with their other minor animations that dont take away the throw circle). Now I only do it on attacks. Psychobabble! fucked around with this message at 03:47 on Dec 23, 2017 |

The white circle on the outside that stays the same size marks the area you need to hit for a catch, the shrinking circle marks the area you need to hit for a bonus, the smaller the circle the better the bonus (nice, great, excellent). The colour of the shrinking circle gives you a general idea of your chances of catching the Pokemon with that given ball/berry. Curveballs also increase your chances of a successful capture, and all three bonuses (curveball, berry, and circle) stack.

dwarf74 posted:I hatched a 15 defense shuckle. No wait until you get 15 HP. The defense stat doesn't really matter for shuckle since it's going to be huge no matter what. HP on the other hand, is much smaller to start out with, so high HP IVs will make a much bigger difference in the overall survivability. I mean shuckle isn't that great to begin with but the difference between 0 and 15 defense will be completely negligible while you might actually notice the difference between 15 and 0 HP. Pokémon with high HP and low defense like chansey and wailord are the opposite: defense IVs will make a bigger difference than HP because the base stat proportions are reversed. endlessmonotony posted:Also yeah, are the current sales just plain worthless if I don't care about star pieces or incenses/lures? For what might be the first time ever, the biggest box is actually the best deal. You get double the super incubators of the middle box for less than 2x the middle price. With other sales the biggest box usually cost over 2x the middle box or had less than 2x the worthwhile items. Pomplamoose fucked around with this message at 06:24 on Dec 23, 2017 |
