In 2017 pretty much every car comes with a reversing camera as standard to eliminate a major blind spots, augmented reality devices are in their infancy but more than capable of talking that video feed and overlaying it on the real world. 2249 or whatever year it is in SC, nah mate, that giant rear end beam obstructing your vision, nothing we can do there.

Weirdly the view out of a P40 is actually really good. Some yahoo put all the gauges and instruments on the dash below the windscreen instead of hanging them right in front of the pilot's face for some drat reason, and the end result is being able to see what's in front of the aircraft.

The argument on its face is nonsensical because there's no reason to replicate the flaws of what should be the ancient past. You can do whatever you want! It's a work of fiction. Unless there's a compelling gameplay reason to mess with a players vision, then don't do it! You're already inventing technologies that are physically impossible, but jamming a plank in the player's eye is the hill you're willing to die on. Whether you've flown a Mig21 is irrelevant; is it a space ship? Does it go interstellar distances in mere minutes? No? Then gently caress off with the comparison! It's akin to saying that it's impossible to have modern cruise ships because the Athenian trireme packed their crew of fifty into a tight space so of course there's no way to squeeze in all the berths for vacationers.

I mean I guess it's a DETAILED SIM  thing, the whole space sim (or any sim) thing is alien to most gamers so idk beyond that. Crberts always promised a space sim rather than game iirc, even when 90% of his promises for SC are incompatible with that. Ofc given that FTL space flight doesn't exist yet and X-wing dogfighting is bullshit, the only thing being simulated is joyless arbitrary faff and a cockpit with a decent view would be exactly as true to reality.

Note the shift in marketing language - the assumption is that everyone seeing this has already bought a Star Citizen package of some sort and rather than make fresh sales they need to tap existing backers again. I mean that's been implicit for ages, but I think this is the first explicit 'Buy this game for other people in your life' messaging.
