I am freaking out about the lore implications of the first tidbits of info coming out of the new Grand Order content. Either Nasu has broken a very well protected and rarely even bent rule, or there are major new additions to the cosmology on the horizon. Or both. Or neither and the whole thing is a smokescreen.

It's an adaptation of the manga of the same name (iirc zoglin used to translate it before he went poof), this episode will air again in the 25th and a second episode will aid the first of February. Apparently it'll be monthly.

Please forgive my Nerd Studies essay:

The first new enemy Servant in the Prologue of Grand Order part 2 is called "Anastasia," by Kotomine, of course implying she's Anatasia Romanov. This is also the name of the first new campaign. The reason this is a big deal is that Anastasia was born in 1901, which would make her the first Heroic Spirit to ever live the entirety of her life in the 20th Century. This is a big deal because it's been previously assumed based on a couple of important lore bits about Heroic Spirits that a 20th Century Heroic Spirit was impossible, they simply stopped being created after the turn of the 19th Century. Some questions regarding ones like Edison and Mata Hari who lived some years into the 20th century aside, no Heroic Spirit has thus far ever been born after 1899 other than Emiya, who is not a normal Heroic Spirit.

However, there are some other important factors here. For one, this Servant is some different sort of Servant. She makes reference to coming from "The Apocryphal Belt," rather than "The Greater History of Man," the origin of normal Servants. We can't be sure what this means because the exposition gets interrupted by a daring rescue, but she does say Servants such as herself are inherently far stronger than normal Servants, and she backs this up by dispatching of Mash and DaVinci almost effortlessly.

One current speculation is that she is a Heroic Spirit from some kind of alternate history, one of the worlds that was pruned from the normal range of potential outcomes of history in the multiverse (The Kaleidoscope) by the Quantum Time Locks, and that's where her power comes from. This is where we start to see the potential for important new additions to the setting's cosmology, because we already have one such Servant from a pruned timeline, Musashi, and she is not special compared to other Servants. This means this Anastasia Servant not only defies what we know about the Throne of Heroes by being from the 20th Century, she also defies what we know about the nature of the Multiverse by being stronger than Musashi for no immediately visible reason.

Her spirit origin might come from some place other than the throne, since we've seen things like the Moon Cell that could record heroic spirits under different rules than the Throne and include otherwise impossible summons like Arc, Neil Armstrong, Wernher Von Braunn and a bunch of Divine Beings that were appropriated by the Sakura Clones. She could also be inhabiting a fundamentally more powerful Vessel rather than her Heroic Spirit ranking simply being higher. This was the case with the Grand Servants, not that the Heroic Spirit inside it was stronger, but only that it met special criteria that allowed it to qualify for the specially empowered Grand container and thus be fundamentally stronger than a normal Servant. Or she could be something entirely different. Right now we don't have enough information to do anything but guess. However, Nasu being Nasu I'm expecting something completely new.

Oh, and of course she could simply not be Anastasia Romanov. I don't trust Kirei of all people to be telling the truth about a Servants identity, nor do I trust Nasu to not throw in a twist that reveals everything we thought we knew about a villain was wrong. More than a few people are speculating that she could actually be Ivan the Terrible based on her combat minions the Oprichnik and the fact that she's carrying around a doll that could represent the son Ivan killed in a fit of rage.

Hope this cleared things up

Other possible identities include:
Anastasia Romanovna: Ivan the Terrible's wife
Anastasia of Byzantium: wife of Constantine IV
Anastasia: Half sister of Constantine I and believe to be involved in the plot to assassination him.

So, yeah. I'm guessing it's the first one I listed based on the other visual clues.

About that servant you're talking about : Ivan the Terrible's first wive was called Anastasia Romanov. She died in 1560, and pop history often sees her death as a trigger to his madness.

That might not be the servant identity but I expect this homonymy to be relevant to the plot.

Speaking of which;

The time where Anya's event happens is also during the reign of Ivan the Terrible, namely the Russo-Turkish war, so it's probably her in that case, yes.

Still, though. The fact you hit up that and not that part two of GO is about loving aliens attacking and direct representatives of Yog Sothoth and Cthulhu have shown up is amusing

I haven't seen all the Epic of Remnant Stuff so I don't know everything that's happened in recent chapters. I'm focusing on what happened in the Chapter II Prologue because I happened to be awake when it came out and thus I saw all this info coming out in real time.

It seems like Part 2's bad guy's plot is to bring back the Age of the Gods so I'm not totally sure that gels with the Foreigner thing

It impressed me how Grand Order made Jack's design go from The Worst to Great just by adding some Dickensian squalor rags to cover up her gross prostitute clothes.

Really, just pants would have been enough since I like her vest thingy, but the rags are thematically appropriate.

Although honestly, most of them are fine or better. Its really only Jack and Fran that are truly bad, and Fran honestly ended up working out weirdly well in full motion. I think saying Seigfreid is terrible is a pretty large exaggeration, he's mediocre at worst, and he's got several bits I quite like. I could agree he's 3rd worst overall though.
