https://www.technologyreview.com/s/609944/apparently-people-say-thank-you-to-self-driving-pizza-delivery-vehicles/quote:Last summer, Ford worked with Domino's Pizza on a test in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where it delivered pizza to randomly chosen customers in a self-driving Ford Fusion hybrid. An operator was inside the car, and a regular human-driven car trailed behind, videotaping the drive. Customers had to approach the car and enter a number on a touch screen on the side of the vehicle to get their pizza. Speaking at CES, the annual consumer electronics show, in Las Vegas this week, Jim Farley, Ford'(TM)s executive vice president, acknowledged that the idea sounds silly, "but we learned so freaking much," he said. Apparently, most people say "thank you" to the car after getting their pizza. We are all bitchmade

People get really attached to their roomba robots too. When people send them in for repairs they often put in special notes and request repairs over replacement because they like their little robot.

"An operator was inside the car" So they were supposed to pretend the person wasn't there? I don't say thank you to the ATM but I do to the little vacuum thing in the drive through because I know there is a human involved and the mic might still be active.

Cool idea until one runs into you and breaks your arm, spawning an insurance investigation using memory retrieval future tech that causes a nearby unrelated murder to spiral into a massive coverup resulting in enormous loss of life.

I remember that. Dude made it through Europe and Canada no problem. Two weeks in the US and he gets hosed up. I think he made it to Philadelphia before he was annihilated. He was so excited to go too. Just look at that smile.
