Serena Williams isn't playing because she sucked rear end after her return from making a baby with Reddit's co-founder.

This is also my girl Elina Svitolina's first slam as the betting favorite.

https://ausopen.com/

The first slam of the year begins on Monday, January 15 and ends on Sunday, January 28. Subtract 16 hours for U.S. Eastern Time.

TV coverage starts at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2 on opening day but 9 p.m. thereafter due to college basketball. Fortunately, you can watch full tournament coverage when it starts at 7 p.m. every day at http://www.watchespn.com. The AO website and app also offer radio streams which are very good.

And her draw is so easy too.

Looking forward to Kyrgios beating Nadal and Federer back to back.

Carebear just won Sydney. She played rear end like all of 2017 but this will be her year. New coach Wim Fissette will improve her poo poo serve. Gonna check the odds on her winning it all..

I mean, she won 2 slams in 2016. Not sure how much more of her year 2018 can be.

Tomic tanks out in final qualifying round. Wonder how long Kyrgios can keep his head together with his sweet draw.

She hasn't won since the US Open and the woman she was up against is decent.

Ostapenko through!

General thoughts:

-Kerber looked solid at Sydney, it would be great if she did well
-Of people who haven't won a slam yet, Svitolina looks the best without a doubt lol
-Interested to see how Keys has adjusted after falling apart at the US Open
-I still don't think Wozniacki will ever win a slam LOL

-Can Sascha Zverev finally make it past Week 1? I'm skeptical but we'll see
-Of all the men returning from injuries, I have the most faith in Wawrinka lol

History question: Based on her performance last year, it still blows my mind that Halep managed to end the year at World #1. Has any player ever ended #1 in a year when they also lost in the first round of a grand slam? I know in the '70s Jimmy Connors ended #1 despite not playing the French, but that's all I've got.

A lot of seeds out right now. Dimitrov should have a pretty easy run through.

That sounds worse than it is. The women's side of the US Open was a complete disaster.

Stephens has never been good, Venus is a million years old who couldn't beat a woman who is injured every five minutes and Coco is overhyped.
