I really like the Ernest movies they were some of my most rented movies, eventually the video store gave me Ernest Scared Stupid because I rented it so often I paid for it multiple times over. They gave me Megaman 4 for the same reason. RIP Jim Varney. Is Super Dave Osborne still alive?

I'm pretty sure he developed and owned the character and it wasn't part of any larger franchise or IP or whatever which is fairly unprecedented. This is I suppose why he could do local commercials in character when the milk council of upstate new york or whatever could never afford to use a muppet or what have you.
