Amazon Prime video has a collection of Ernest's greatest hits. It's like an hour of his commercials. I got through about 15 minutes and I'm a fan of Ernest.

Waylon was known for his massive cocaine intake, but the whole Nashville scene had been awash in stimulants since at least the 50s. According to ‘Tales From The Tour Bus’ (a show everyone who likes Mike Judge and/or 70s/80s outlaw country should watch) if Willie heard you were doing coke, he would fire you , and if Waylon smelled weed on you, he would throw you out.

Jim Varney legit had a good grift going where, in the days where small local brands and TV stations still existed, you could make the exact same commercial for a dozen different products and nobody would be the wiser because it was in a completely different state. So he and John Cherry would go to somebody's house and spend the day making the same exact commercial over and over, just swapping out one soft drink for another or whatever. If you're the podcast-listening type the Jim Varney episode of Laser Time is a good listen.

Most recently, I’m thinking of those lawyer ads that starred Robert Vaughn before he died. Traveling around a bit, it was fun to see whatever ambulance-chaser he was plugging in each local network market.
