If I want to do some casual bounty hunting or combat stuff, would I be better off getting a vulture or a federal dropship? I can comfortably afford both so the price (in that price range) isn't really an issue

You can detach the bits and set up the T-Flight to sit on either side of your keyboard so you can use it in addition to standard keyboard bindings, right? That's what I would do. Re: SRV bindings, Even when I was playing with a T16000m HOTAS screwed to a stinky old recliner that I chopped some of the foam out of (I can't find a photo handy rn), I went through the hassle to manually bind the SRV controls to an Xbone controller because they are so good.

The Gunship isn't great, but it *can* fit a fighter bay, so it at least has something going for it. Don't buy a dropship.

I did fiddle a bit with it, but it's a really nice starting point.

I did have a weird moment where I wanted to to leave my ship and run around FPS style. After hovering over a mission log full of "Destroy Colony Power Grid -- penal colony macguffin ++" waiting for the power generator to respawn and blow it up again before quitting/reloading/blowing up power generator (again). It would have been kinda sweet to hop out and toss some grenades, maybe blow up a defense turret or something. The terrain looks pretty good and would be accessible as a spaceman but that's basically the opposite of this game so I imagine it will go about as well as EVE's "walking in stations" thing. I only feel the desire to get out of my ship when I'm about 30m or less above the ground and my ship lasers are too big and bulky to do any fine surgical killing. But then again, I'd love to do a mission where I strafe/bomb a bunch of ship-less fools running around on the ground.

I can not wait for them to change it so your engineering materials store isn't one big pile, but instead a bunch of little piles because I am so tired of having to go through and dump stuff to make room for the things I think I need only to find out I threw out one of the things I needed. Also for them to implement a module system such that two ships can share the same module because which $^#$% ship has my 5A long range FSD in it?! (spends 15 minutes swapping through ships to find out which one has it fitted and getting it into the one I want to fly) Either that or I guess let us see what modules are fitted/engineered from the ship select interface.

Yesterday I bought a Type-10 and then, after thinking about it, sold it 5 minutes later. I don't get what that ship gets me that my Anaconda doesn't. Especially if I'm not fighting thargoids.

This needs to be a thing already. Hate having to throw out some data because a mission turn in wants to give me a single, level one, material. I don't know what of the stuff I have is worth keeping, and I really don't want to screw with it at all until the engi changes happen. (In six months or something I'm sure.) Aside, I'm glad I figured out how to do mission board flipping. Save the fact I keep filling up my log with data missions, trying to find even one passenger. Still counts for rank and money, so whatever.

The new limpet sounds pretty handy for Thargoid fighting. “As we know, the Thargoids’ enzyme missiles are particularly dangerous because of the caustic damage they inflict. The decontamination limpet is designed to address this by stripping the corrosive enzymes from a ship’s hull while also performing limited repairs.” Wonder if this is something they intended to roll out as part of this whole thing, or if forum screaming necessitated its creation.

I've been doing the rescue missions for the last couple of days, while mixing it up with the community goal of salvaging the space junk floating around inside the stations, and whoo boy is it annoying to be unable to turn in the passenger missions because I've forgotten that my hold is full of escape pods and the passengers insist on awarding me 4 vacuum cleaner repair parts alongside my payment

Did the stream yesterday put any timeframe on the patch? Is there a usual dev stream -> launch time? I’m not necessarily asking if it’s tomorrow, I’m just wondering if this is like a “two weeks in beta” or “You can play it in March.”

Are there actually plans to change how module management works? Because yeah swapping parts between ships is a dumb part of this game. The type-10 is a sloppy slow rear end ship to fight anything in. I haven’t tried using it agains thargoids but the only way would be to use turreted weapons which do not have as much damage as the fixed ones. The anaconda is my favorite big ship. I was reading about doing the Mainani to nganni to reach Baron grind. What is a Cutter like compared to an anaconda? Does it have similar jumprange?

It has pretty low jump range (20-30ish) but a bit faster in normal space. Cutter has two rank 8 internals which sets it apart from the other big ships but I think Anaconda is overall better unless you like trading.

Turrets are ok for the T10 because any drop in damage is made up for by not having to spend 80% of your time trying to bring your guns to bear, in my opinion.

Turrets are also a good way to make your ship worth opening up to multicrew. Does having a commander manually aiming your turrets keep chaff spam from being an effective

The DPS loss is more than made up for by the massive increase in uptime. If you're not the greatest at piloting an Anaconda it's even an option there, as long as you are fitting 4 large ones.

Yeah, the Cutter is great for trading and mining, while the Anaconda is much better for exploration. Both are just fine for most combat. Speaking of mining, when I get back to the bubble I think I'm going to roll up a gimmick Type-10 miner, bristling with defensive turrets.
