Where? That page I linked only had federal regulation (less than 12 miles out), and also there was no where that said untreated sewage was acceptable.

12 miles out would fall under International Maritime Law.

Holy gently caress this. Someone in my apartment building isn't cleaning out the lint trap and every time I use the drier it's absolutely full of someone else's lint. It takes like 7 seconds do and should be auto-pilot the last step you do when doing your laundry. I don't even want to confront this person or leave a passive aggressive note because I can't even fathom of a human brain so absolutely broken, so alien to what most people would think of as a sapient being, as to not clear out the lint trap after they're done.

I actually maintain it should be the first step, not the last, which means I'm cool cleaning somebody else's lint as they'll be cleaning mine. Reason being, I gotta pull the trap out anyway to make sure the person before me did it. Might as well just set up a system that doesn't require me to pull the trap out twice every time.

But seriously, clean your loving lint traps. I'm still training my boyfriend on this. He left wet clothes in the washer overnight, then tried to dry them with a full lint trap. (He's going to kill us some day, I swear, between this and forgetting to put poo poo back in the fridge.) I'm running them thru the washer again because we live in a coastal loving rainforest and mildew is A Thing. For once, I miss living in the high desert.

So far as I can see, it's not illegal to pee off your boat.

It is illegal to pee into an empty water bottle, and then dump the contents of that water bottle into the ocean.

sucks to be right
At one point I had to train my housemates to clean the lint trap every time that they used the clothes dryer, and then I had to train them to throw the lint in the bin rather than just cram it on a shelf or behind the detergent bottles or whatever cranny was in reach in the laundry.

Partly because it was loving lazy, partly because the gas hot water service was in the same room and it's probably a bad idea to have handfuls of lint getting blown about by every breeze and falling into the pilot light.

hooo man. When I was still working for the hotel, the regional engineer came down to check on our chief engineer to see how he was doing after his first 30 days or so. I legit thought a vein in his forehead was gonna let go and spray like a runaway firehose when he learned that the lint had not been cleared from beneath the three monstrous dryers (all of which had basketballs of lint below) or the compressor room behind them (in which everything had grown a 2-inch beard or so of lint). He congratulated the chief on narrowly avoiding 120+ counts of negligent manslaughter for so long.

As for myself, it gives me real pleasure to hook my shopvac up to the outside dryer vent every 6 months or so. Oh the multicolored treasures that come out.
