I have actual skeletons in my closet

Boywhiz88 posted:

There’s an issue w rap culture in regards to the “it’s me alone in this” mindset. The punk scene in my city has a Facebook page/YouTube channel that is just about posting videos from local shows. The 5 or so contributors go to lots of shows, record a video of a whole song, and post it. It’s gotten me into several groups, I rely on it in a big way for finding out about shows, etc. It kills me that the rap scene here, or elsewhere, doesn’t have this kind of community to it. The zero-sum attitude in succeeding in rap helps to fuel beef and antagonism. gently caress that guy, because you can’t BOTH be eating.
yeah that's pretty bad. take 3 rappers with the same fan base and they probably don't work together. i know rock acts can have fights and stuff but rappers don't believe in a scene unless its like gang related or they are on the same label. its dumb af.

edit: extended blessings to maxo kream. peace to who made that playlist. amen

No doubt they all have done some bad poo poo, but Wahlberg was super loving racist to the point of nearly killing a man simply for being Vietnamese. And then he tried to get a pardon for it 30 years later, having never apologized to the victim. Anyway sorry for the derail.

I am looking for some production inspiration for a hip-hop project I am working on with a friend of mine. Anyone have any recommendations for something newer, sample-based stuff would be cool or live instruments (mostly bass and guitar), and on the funkier side?

A buddy recently recommended to me “Here Lies Man,” really fuzzy psych rock. Think early Sabbath. Also, check out King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard’s albums from the last year. They did an album w Mild High Club which is a neo-jazz group, I believe. Also their album “Microtonal Flying Banana” is neat, they modified the instruments they used on it w microtonal pickups.

Idk if that’s what you’re looking for but might give you some interesting ideas or inspiration.
