So I thought the jam ended about 24 hours before it actually does so I stayed up late to polish off the game and then went to have fun. And broke things!

Neat!

Do I need to do anything special on the website to submit my game or just update the page, put up a link to the download and its good?

Ive got it mostly finished at this point so I put it up at:

https://sedgr.itch.io/ufo-cattle-battle

and updated my games page on the awful jams site.

Might mess around with some stuff again tomorrow and update the version or something but its in a pretty good place at the moment I think. If anyone wants to download and try it early its there.

There is a submission process.

On the "Edit Your Game" page there is a big rear end button in the upper right that says "Read to Submit". Press that and upload your game.

Be sure to select supported operating systems or everything will break and we'll be sad.

As usual I’m doing most of the work now, less than a day before the jam ends, though this time at least it’s not by due to procrastination. Mostly. Kinda.
Still waiting on art and music, too. At least I can say I’ve made a minigame about an obese lizardman selling bitcoin!

At the Heart of the city is an Alien horror, so vile and so powerful that not even death can claim it.

Reminder to everyone: test your games on other people's computers (you should've been doing this all along really)
Don't wait until your game is finished, don't wait until it's perfect, just get it out there, because an incomplete game is better than one that won't start because you forgot some really important file / DLL / redist / etc.
Similarly, VSync is not a fixed framerate. Monitors come in all kinds of refresh rates these days, so if your game runs differently on 60hz vs 120hz, that can be the difference for a judge to play it as intended or it's completely broken.
There's plenty of goons on Discord happy to try out your masterpieces on a variety of hardwares.

I was trying to keep positive after a week of rough IRL stuff, but between my terrible scheduling ability, our sound guy not having his stuff done in time and our artist having to do most of the art hours before the deadline... well, finishing everything on time just wasn’t going to happen. That said, the build of 60 Second History that I submitted is entirely playable, but the variety of timelines is tiny and the endings are missing. Most of the minigames were there but not in a presentable state, so I cut them out. Since I’ve got the art assets now (as well as hopefully the songs later tonight) I’m gonna release the complete version as the public build in the next day or two.

Aaand we're done. What a jam. Discovered a bug in our submitted game where peasants can't be loaded into schools to decrease research time, gotta build additional schools to do that. Originally this was our plan but it slows the game down quite a bit. Opening the game with -gongshow options helps a bit Our New Game + mode gives you a speed slider which basically negates the difference of not having students

Here's a general gist of the tech tree: https://i.imgur.com/78vKerM.png. Will comment more after sleep.

Clock Jammers
http://www.awfuljams.com/winter-2018/games/clock-jammers
A tactical turn-based game inspired by XCOM. You are the Clock Jammers, the Time Police’s special forces team!

Never run away from the Time Police, you will not survive~~

Manage a team of loose cannons who never quit the mission! When they die they're just born again and pick up their case with a posthumous promotion

Battle anachronistic foes upon multiple battlefields in corrupted timelines where anything can happen

Mix of infantry and vehicle combat with deep strategic options and challenging AI

Crazy time-based powers! Enemies slain by Chrono Blast die in the previous turn, and so their previous action is undone. Revert the death or injury of allies without the need for save scumming!

you should see my TMNT® Machinegun

This was a fun game to work on! We also have:

-Cool weapons like Missile Launcher, Minigun (damages all enemies in a line), and Lightning Gun!

-A bleepy bloopy Chiptune soundtrack: https://soundcloud.com/ludvigloven/sets/clock-jammers

-Sweet character sprites by MShadowy

And you get to help bring down Imperial Japan! :patriot:

But the mushroom is right there! (Seriously, the Mario with Mario levels are what I'm most disappointed with (apart from a bunch of cut features and a Defender clone that I decided against early on). I had to do them quickly before leaving for work yesterday, so there was no time for any kind of polishing). And thanks!

THUNDERDOME LOSER

I submitted mid-yesterday because I was done and burnt out but now I have all of this leftover jam energy and I'm not sure what to do with it.

I spent an hour or so merely pondering the idea of playing, as opposed to making, a video game. Or maybe doing chores. Or something else productive.

It's good to have an accomplishment under my belt, but now I have a new goal which is also good: to finally get some sleep.

Last night was still restless because games are still being developed in my head.

We overscoped ourselves to the moon and couldn't make it back. We ended with workings stealth gameplay and an environment to sneak around, but my test stage had grown so gradually over the course of development. When it came time to set up a playable demo, my Unity objects were so dependent on establishing relationships by assigning them in the editor (I'm so bad at using the various Find functions, it's stupid), that we literally ran down the clock with me dragging and dropping various object references.

We both really love this game concept, though, and we're hoping that we have time to keep working on it. I might edit some gifs into this post later, after I get some sleep.
