RE: Vegas being good

538 did one of their rare hockey articles about how the Knights are the best expansion team in the history of north american sports, and that it's not particularly even close:
https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/vegas-has-the-best-expansion-team-in-the-history-of-pro-sports-and-its-not-close/

They of course fold in a few too many numbers in order to make cross sport comparisons and make the whole thing a bit bloodless, but it's interesting reading. Another takeaway is that on average, NHL expansion teams generally do much better than other sports in their first year.

OK MAF was not "considered expendable". The Penguins would have happily kept him and Murray on the team if there was no expansion. But they couldn't exactly expose a 2-time Cup winner who is 23 years old.

Vegas can win all the regular season games they want, let's see how they fare in the playoffs and beyond. You want expansion success stories, how about the Marlins winning a title their 5th season or the Diamondbacks in their 4th. Even the worst expansion team ever, the Mets, won in their 8th.

Keeping Murray was the right choice even if he turns into Cam Ward 2.0. You make the moves with the information you have at the time and the info at the time suggest MM > Maf not just in ability but youth, cap hit, etc.

But yeah all things being equal the Pens would have rather kept Maf and MM as a tandem especially given Murray's injury history.

LAK's AHL affiliate has two goalies splitting time with .919 and .913 svp.

CBJ's AHL affiliate has three goalies posting .888 .884 and .868 this season, with Korpisalo in the NHL now.

Zatkoff hasn't played a game this season, he's 30 and put up .879 in the NHL and .900 in the AHL last year. The trade is a courtesy to him to give him a chance at playing in the AHL.

It would be sad to see Zucc go, but that would also create more ice time for Buchnevich. I think part of why he gets so little ice time is that Fast is the go-to defensive guy and Zucc is a go-to for all situations.

On the other hand, wee man Ty Ronning is scoring almost a goal per game in the WHL.

So the Wings called up Hicketts, who a lot of fans have been clamoring for for a while.
Or as one guy apparently says:

“He’s awesome,” said one NHL team executive, who seemed legitimately excited Hicketts got called up. “He’s an undersized guy with a set of balls like a bull who doesn’t give a gently caress and just plays hard, smart hockey.”

I can't wait for him to get 6 minutes of ice time!

I feel like Zuccarello is going age very gracefully. He has only missed a dozen games in the last five years, and his style doesn't subject him to a lot of wear. I would love to see him around for another decade as a Ranger. I would even be happy to see him and Buch double shifting and the Rangers running three RWs most of the time.

My brother had a heart ablation for an arrhythmia. Two weeks seems a little short because they give you a ton of blood thinners and any chance for blunt trauma or cuts can kill you for a while after. My bro was off work for a month to be safe. The good news is that if it's successful you're completely normal with no restrictions and just a small chance that it can reoccur.
