Arc System makes fighters that are still stupid fun to play even if you never go online. I own the entire BlazBlue franchise and P4A and have played approximately 10 matches online between them.

It's going to be rough and ugly no matter what game you pick until you lose enough that you start to understand the basic reasons for why people do what they do, so you might as well pick a game whose theme you love to jump in with. If I can do it, you can too.

Usually in fighting games (that I've played anyway) walk speeds going forward are faster than backing up (not counting dashes) so I wouldn't be surprised if there's a standard speed for everyone. I might be wrong though v  v Game also straight up tells you how to get the Blue's fast.
