Anyone know of any other bands that sound like this? I like to call it "warm bath while coming down" type music. I just love to get drunk and fall asleep/cry my eyes out to it.

Sammy Davis Jr. Jr. is also in repose.
Not so much a recommendation request as a history question, but what's the first hip hop album that had all rapped lyrics, minus any instrumental tracks? The first albums seemed to be a mix of rap and funk and songs about wanting to kiss Stevie Wonder and other stuff I don't care about.

I used to listen to a lot of IDM-ish music like Aphex Twin, Amon Tobin, Ginormous, The Flashbulb and Venetian Snares. I recently heard Trentemoller's Last Resort which reminded me how much I like that stuff, have there been any new artists or big releases I should check out from the last couple of years? Also anything with an early Progidy vibe would work.

I appreciate that this is a really vague request but I guess it's worth a go

I've been listening to Asa-Chang and Junray, and I doubt there's anything similar to them but I'm looking for something else that might scratch the same itch. More specifically, I like how their best stuff is really beautiful and pretty and melodic, and also experimental and really quite weird in the way that they play around with choppy spoken word/percussion and really unpredictable and strange rhythm and timing changes. Again, I don't expect to find anything particularly similar, but I always appreciate music that is classically beautiful but also in some way completely out of the ordinary. If that makes you think of something, I'm interested to know what. Specifically not really interested in improv stuff though

Only in America could you find a way to earn a healthy buck and still keep your attitude on self destruct
I'm looking for songs that may be best described as "disco funk swagger."

Examples:

The Killers -- I'm the Man https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3xcybdis1k
Portugal. The Man - Feel It Still https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBkHHoOIIn8
Saint Motel - My Type https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyVPyKrx0Xo
Jungle - Busy Earnin' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcsfftwLUf0

I guess what all of these have in common is their lush background sounds with lots of horns and strings, very disco, but also that swagger element -- instant confidence boosters.

You might try out "Wonderland" by Demdike Stare. Been a favorite of mine recently.
You could also check out "Syro" by Aphex Twin and "Tomorrow's Harvest" by Boards of Canada if you haven't already.
"Death Peak" by Clark.
And then there's "The Digging Remedy" by Plaid. A little less heavy than what you've listed, but textbook IDM.

E: also "Damogen Furies" by Squarepusher

The Books for sure, maybe Gastr del Sol, Battles, and The Red Krayola

i wanna say Nikaido Kazumi, too, but that's mostly because she's Japanese and this is a really lovely album with lots of cool and weird multi-tracked vocals.

Oh, I think I'll have some stuff for you, besides already mentioned The Books, Battles and Gastr del Sol:
- after The Books split up, both of the guys involved in the project have released something afterwards: Paul de Jong - IF (https://pauldejong.bandcamp.com/) and Nick Zammuto (https://www.zammutosound.com/)
- Black Moth Super Rainbow (have a look at the Dandelion Gum - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OSF-RZdL2s)
- Kashiwa Daisuke - he's got a broad range of works, but have a listen to his Stella (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaTw6IisvgU - after the 10min mark; bear in mind it doesn't have field recordings aspect at all)

But for my money those few early 80s comps that kinda started off the thing are more worth your time: Carry on Oi, Oi the Album, Strength Through Oi

A friend of mine is looking for inspiration for some concept art he's been put in charge of creating for a videogame.

Without going into too much detail (confidentiality and what not), the setting seems to be equal parts eutopian and dystopian, with a healthy dose of H.P. Lovecraft. Pretty broad reach, surely, but each can get pretty specific.

Does anyone have any acts or albums (or even single songs) that would match any of these? So far he's said artists like Gazelle Twin, Fever Ray, and Woodkid have done it, and he's asked specifically for "tribal beats."

Thanks!
