Don't you just hate when you wind up in a store with people who are in a socioeconomic class that is pretty obviously about two levels lower than your own?

if it’s still there, is one of the 88000-based AViiON systems, and can be liberated, I know someone who’ll want it

esp if it’s already on a pallet for shipping

it’s definitely mid-90s, and a full rack, so almost certainly x86.

also if I could liberate it I would just keep it. a big dgux box is cool even if it’s not 88k

and the solution in that pdf looks brittle and prone to bugs. and isn't zfs maintained by just one dude?

wouldn't touch it with a ten feet pole

why wouldn't you want your data to be symmetric after adding a disk anyway

why are people so down on rhel & friends? the main functional differences i can think of vs ubuntu are (1) available/enabled directories (2) leaf package tracking. neither particularly important unless you're constantly reconfiguring a system

besides that i'm convinced that the majority of techs will not use any feature that simplifies their lives but will just install poo poo from upstream & hack the global configuration

it's less of a system preference and more of a system developer preference

base rhel/centos packages are old as gently caress out of the box and you want to get rpms from vendor repos if you want something that's not from the 90s. it's not a big deal if you're not incompetent, but computing and incompetence go hand in hand so

"why do I have to add postgres yum repository manually when I can just choose the ubuntu image and apt-get install postgres instead???"

if you are "down on X" it means you don't like X
if you exclaim "down with X!" then you are calling for the destruction of X
