Thinking about it they didn't even get rid of the starter edition, and jacked up the normal game to 60$, so this is some predatory poo poo with how bad the grind is in the starter edition. They also increased the starter edition price on top of that So this is ridiculous, I feel bad for congratulating Ubisoft on how they handled Siege's monetization and pricing structure (excluding the starter edition) before, because this is some boneheaded stuff They're so lucky the game part of siege is good. I can't of imagined a better way to hobble the game as it's gaining popularity like wildfire than to act like greedy baguette wielding shitheads by leaning HARD into the starter edition, not removing it, raising it's price, and not doing what everyone was asking for and discount the year one operators. You wouldn't even have to discount them all at once! Just go season by season, and discount two every three months. I can't get over how stupid and mean-spirited these changes are

I can't get over the fact that an Outbreak pack guarantees you a non-duplicate cosmetic, and you HAVE to buy it with real money, but you CAN'T just buy whatever cosmetic you want. It's literally designed to force you to buy more packs than cosmetics you want because you can't control which ones you get. the pricing is literally predatory at this point but at least loot crates only suck if they involve non-cosmetic advantages pay 2 grief items own and the operators they listed are all fun as heck so lol when you see that Tachanka running at you like the suicide bombers in t-hunt 5 months from now except he has a Saiga and you have to at some point look at him on the MVP screen ever at all. so many kids borrowing their mom's credit card for this are gonna force themselves to main operators they don't even like because they got a stupid skin lol when this becomes an annual thing turning siege into Ubi's main cash cow for the next decade

This is not a game like Rocket League where everyone has a bright neon over their head so you know where they are at all time. This is a violent game of hide and seek and visibility and being able to identify what's and enemy and what's map-junk is a huge gameplay mechanic. You gently caress with that, you are loving with the gameplay. How many people threw themselves on the black uniforms when they came out, cause they gave you a bit of an advantage on characters like Frost or IQ? Cause I am seeing a lot more black uniforms then before. My point is - in Siege, visibility = gameplay, so the cosmetics gently caress with gameplay just a little bit.

Only cosmetics you need in siege is the black uniforms and the black universal weapon skins. Anything else basically helps the enemy shoot you in face easier.

That's why I bought them. The black is good cover but more importantly they weren't a loving clown suit.

What I think is funny is the invisible stuff the game has. They're oddly stingy with that technology in the Clancyverse. You can have drones and needle things that can be invisible but that's it. You never have enough time to discern color or texture on the opponent and it's extremely rarely that a skin happens to blend into the environment, considering that there are so many different environments in the game. You just see something vaguely human-torso-shaped and shoot it. Unless they run right into my face, I never see what skin they have until after they're dead or I'm dead. Or are you gonna tell me that you micromanage your op skins and matchmaking preferences to only enter the maps with perfect camo selected?

The all-black skins blend in far better than any of the other ones, particularly in areas with poor lighting. Which is why they command a premium. Similarly people buy the twitch elite skin not for how it looks for the player model but because it changes the drone color to something that blends in with a lot more flooring than the original one.

I like how they stressing super hard that it's cosmetic items only in the packs and that if you buy 50 you're guaranteed the whole collections  Like gently caress off man, none of these companies want to be the next EA but none of them can turn down how much money these things generate so they do them anyway. Notice how carefully they point out that all the stuff in these packs are cosmetic only just in case any Battlefront fans are reading about updates for Rainbow Six and decide that the word lootboxes will trigger them and get Ubisoft in trouble.
